Not Futurama related, but here in Canada we were able to watch ALL of Star Trek on a streaming service called Crave. Well as of this week Paramount expired the license it is all gone except for the most recent SNW. Yikes for fans and good thing I had watched it all already at some point.

Yeah, this content thing is going to continue to piss off customers for a long time to come, merlin.

I'm a big fan of Strange New Worlds, well at least until Jonathan Frakes directed a really silly episode. But honestly all the other recent series have been unwatchable in my opinion (so you're not missing anything).

Indeed Discovery and Picard were pretty bad. The only thing that I did not get around to watch were some of the of the shorts.

Unfortunately, you needed to watch the first three seasons of (awful) Discovery to really set up for Strange New Worlds, but that was really painful. SNW was a breath of fresh air (mostly) for me.

Well, I'm out. I watched one episode of Strange New Worlds and thought it was trash. Of course I've hated every Star Trek since the original series so that's no surprise. I actually liked the first couple of JJ Abrams movies, though.

I'm surprised they're hasn't been a big outcry about streaming MLB games. Yankees, for example, have at least one game a week only on Prime. Don't get me started on Apple+ or Peacock games.

Well, I'm not happy with the silliness I just watched from the latest episode, nor the one directed by Frakes...

But, I'm sorry you didn't enjoy it, GAD. I absolutely loved the first season.

You're not kidding! I beginning to think that my age cohort (the one that watched TOS when we were kids) is irrelevant to the producers and writers. That's the only explanation I have for some of the episodes in Season 2. Glee in Space...

Well... I liked it for a season and a half, I guess. And, I thought it was a great tribute to TOS... But, yeah, OK, they've jumped the shark already, I guess.

I'll bet younger viewers, except for the diehard canonical-type fans, may not think it's jumped the shark and actually enjoy those episodes that have me wondering - "What the heck?"

I'm sure you're right, GG. And I know I'm not really the target audience.

I mean, I like creativity, and let's face it the original series had some really crappy episodes, but this musical episode they just had has ejected me from the fold. I think there's only one episode left for the 2nd season so I'll probably watch it, but after that I'm done. I had high hopes they'd avoid some of the pitfalls of the all the other modern ones. They haven't.

Oh well.

And @GAD my problem with the first JJ movie, especially, was the terrible use of time travel to just blow away all of canon. I really did like the 2nd one with Benedict Cumberbatch as Khan. After that, I was way more than done as it stopped being Star Trek.

Ugh, just to cap this off... Star Trek: Strange New Worlds sadly lost its way by mid-second season, IMHO. And, seriously, ending on a cliff-hanger? Oh well. Done with that.

Small recap: The first season, and the first three episodes of second season really worked for me. A great homage to (and new take on) the original series with a lot of fun twists and turns. Again, the set up for watching ST:SNW involves gritting your teeth through the first three seasons of Discovery, which (again, IMHO) is an unwatchable show. You can skip that, but you'll be a little confused. However, if you're trying to be a returning fan to a show that (again, IMHO) bit the dust in the 2010s before JJ Abrams sent it to its grave, give it a whirl... Just prepare to be very disappointed. And, again, stop after the third episode of season 2.

Now, back to Futurama! Still happy with that so far. Episode 4 dropped this morning, and given that it involves parasites I can't wait to watch it. If you're not a Futurama fan, don't worry; you won't get the reference there.

Too late, I watched them all. The final episode of S3 wasn't as bad as Glee in Space, though. ;) I wish they didn't cancel Star Trek Enterprise. I read that if there had been another season Shran was supposed to be an advisory bridge officer. That would have made for some great story lines.

:D Enterprise had its moments. I'll admit. Do you know the furor that was had by fans over the theme song? I couldn't understand that. I liked it! Whatever. I don't remember the Shran character, but maybe I'll re-watch.

Havenā€™t watched the new Futuramas (only first episode) As for Strange New Worlds I follow a lot of TV stuff because my kids are in the entertainment business and I havenā€™t read a single positive thing about the two episodes in question. A *lot* of people are very unhappy that they did those episodes in ā€œthe show that will save Star Trekā€.

I know you didn't like it at all, GAD, but wasn't aware of any "show that'll save Star Trek" feelings. As far as I'm concerned, everything from episode 4 through episode 10 was in the "crap" column. Just one man's opinion, of course, and as far as I'm concerned it's way too late to save Star Trek. I was just hoping for a good homage to what used to be my favorite show. I feel I kind of got it with season 1 and season 2 episodes 1 - 3. :)

Oh, and as a Futurama fan, I know you'll enjoy the new ones. Though, nothing is as original and awesome as the first three or four years of the show.

Iā€™ve been rewatching the originals. Itā€™s crazy how good they are and how every episode has got some quotable gem in it.
