Yeah and I smell a song coming out of this project too!

My bigsby spring just got delivered so I'll pop that in tonight. Baby steps!

Just ordered a Vibramate String Spoiler from WDMusic, 20% off right now if you use 'fruitcake' as a code so it covers shipping, nice.

Oh and just a little self-inspiration, a while back Hans posted this Guild Starfire VI Special, special since it was all factory chrome/nickel hardware. Hey, looks good to me! Of course this is a '67 and mine's a '65 so the Bigsby's going to be missing a bar, but hey it'll work.

Bigsby spring came in and works nice and smooth, getting the tall version was a smart choice. During the tryout I realized that the nut slots were cut too deep, probably a result of years of bigsbying. Maybe try the bone dust and glue trick? I'll think about it.

60s USA Bigsby nickel tuners, the ones marked "USA" made right after the patent pending grovers, came in and they popped right in, look great and stay in tune - i found the locking gold grovers to be a bit futzy when stringing up, trying to poke the string through the hole up top and all. Here it is!

I have to say, that amber looks nicer to me than the orange!

Well i bit the bullet and took the wiring harness out again. Multimeter still didn't come so i did ye olde test of "push things until i hear things." Turns out the ground wiring on the master volume pot lifted, so i soldered that back into place. Hum problem fixed. And the neck wire to the selector switch had popped off, so i soldered that back on the lug and OH YEAH NECK PICKUP BACK ON!

So after threading all the pots back on once more, I put some of the plastic on (still need bracket for pickguard, probably cut pickguard too, need screws for trussrod, work on nut, couldn't find nails small enough for knob indicators) and got as close as I'm going to get for today. Here's a pic!

Thanks all! Next step after all the screws coming in is the nut, kinda freaked by that one - bone dust and glue, really? - and in 4-6 weeks my TRU-Arc aluminum bar bridge should be ready!

According to Walter, baking soda and superglue is a good remedy. You wouldn't have to mess with bone at all.

Terrific Jahn! That guitar just oozes the same kind of Hoboken mojo that both of mine have. And your Starfire TRC is might close to mine.

Good luck finishing up, and keep us tuned. 8)
