The Twelfth Fret here in Toronto has one of these for sale on consignment ($2,700.00 CDN) , and it appears from the description to be in good shape.
I am interested in trying it out, and wonder if anyone here either has or had one, and can give me any insight into its pros and cons.
Please and thanks.

I have an '81 CE-100D. Pros: the HB-1s are clear and articulate. They can rock out or be jazzy. Cons: the skinny neck with low profile jumbo frets make it challenging to play (for me). The neck profile and fret issue is the same with my '76 X-175 and '76 X-500. They sound good, but hard to play. I like tall medium (or even vintage narrow) frets. Have fun on your test drive with the one at 12th Fret!

GGJaguar,
Thanks for the synopsis. The Twelfth Fret is only 40 minutes away, so I think I'll take a shot and give the guitar a whirl.

RDR (really dark rosewood). :)
It's gorgeous. I really dig the look of ebony contrasted against blonde maple. I'm constantly tempted to stain the rosewood fretboard on my CE-100D darker to "ebonize" it. I know many people do this.

Both GGJ and The Guilds of Grot pointed out that unless one likes thin-necked guitars, the CE-100 BLD won't satisfy them.
I don't own any guitars with particularly thin necks, so I am a little unclear as to why this should be.
Again, a bit of education would be most helpful.
Please and thanks.

Sorry I saw this a bit late! My F-30 has a 1 3/4 nut, my Casino has a 1 5/8 nut. I notice the difference particularly at the "cowboy chords" area. I seem to be more prone to deadening an adjacent string if I'm not careful. But bar chords and soloing is much easier. To be honest, I think it is doing me good to focus a bit more on the "cleanness" of my chords.

Hope the offer goes through and your wife stays, too!

I played the CE 100 BLD yesterday, and liked it very much.
It has been well looked after, and plays and sounds wonderful.
Now if I can figure out a way to buy it without also incurring alimony payments, I'll have the store contact the seller with an offer.

You may want to have a look at these two CE-100 Ds on Reverb

Harp Tail,
I appreciate the information, but both of these examples are priced higher than the one I'm interested in, and each has extra shipping charges as well.
The only extra charges for the one here in Toronto will be $1.00 for gas and $2.00 for parking.

You're quite welcome, RBSinTo... I forget what the exchange rate is but figured you may have wanted to take a look anyhow

When I viewed the two you suggested, the asking prices appeared in Canadian dollars, so comparing the three instruments in terms of cost was very easy.
