When I viewed the two you suggested, the asking prices appeared in Canadian dollars, so comparing the three instruments in terms of cost was very easy.
RBSinTo
I have reason to believe those three are all the 1970/80s CE-100 Ds currently for sale

I have a 76 ,so , the same except for the mahogany neck on mine.
It was my everything guitar for at least a decade.
If you like the neck , and it’s under 2k , you can’t go wrong.

The conclusion of the story:
While the expediture would not have been a financial hardship, I was not prepared to buy the guitar if The Lovely Missus RBSinTo was not fully on board with the purchase.
So I discussed it with her.
And she was not.
So I didn't.
(sigh)
RBSinTo
I'm sorry. Maybe she just needs a bit of time for sticker shock to wear off?

I mean - do they ever?
Harp Tail,
When it comes to "boys and their toys" our spouses often don't see the point of our excesses.
This was a "want" rather than a "need", and I had recently bought and built a kit electric guitar that in all aspects approximated the Guild, and I already have five other instruments as well.
So not having this one is not the greatest of tragedies.

Sometimes. Husband has never said a word about the 14 guitars we have here and if I got another one he still wouldn't. When he bought his truck, albeit a few years back, I made no comment that it cost more than what we paid for our house.

After all, money's no good till you spend it. ;)

I stumbled into a flock of Guild archtops belonging to an estate and came out with the CE-100 pictured, it's a big guitar, it's heavy, I finally had it set up. I'm still trying to bond with it, but my wife says it is her favorite sounding guitar so there's that!

Cynthia,
No. She simply doesn't see the point.

The point is the smile on your face as you enjoy playing a finely built and equally gorgeous Guild guitar.

And like horses, Guilds are herd animals. You need more than one. :)

Playing your Guild keeps you out of her hair, unless she wants you in her hair in which case a fine Guild will inspire you to write numerous love ballads with which to serenade the love of your life.

Does that help?

A common theme unfortunately. My wife can’t or doesn’t care to tell one guitar from another, and sees no necessity to have more than one. But that’s where attics, basements, lots of empty boxes show their true value. That or offsite storage bunkers…

Cynthia,
Not even a little bit.
But I appreciate your input.

Mikey,
I have neither the desire nor temperment to resort to such devious machinations.
Mrs. RBSinTo doesn't pull stunts like that with me, and I don't with her.
If I had bought the guitar, she would know about it 'cause I wouldn't even try to hide it from her.

RBS apparently you still don’t know me well enough. My wife knows what I have. She doesn’t like it but she knows, and knows it still dwarfs her jewelry collection. Carry on…

RBSinTo: I was never married, and that may explain why I bought five guitars (on top of the dozens already in my possession) in the last four months... guitars also usually don't go to college..

My advice to you, son... is plastics!

:)

[OK, that's a silly reference to The Graduate] ...

Substitute "don't do it" for that last word and you have my real advice, Harp Tail. :D :D

Thank you for the precious advice, Chazmo! But should I ever meet a lady who knows the difference between a Starfire and a T-100, you never know what may happen..

you are a wise man.
i have found that involving my wife in any purchase over $200 leads to a good relationship.
i definitely appreciate my wife's help in picking out gear. she's much smarter than i am.

And just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water.......
On Tuesday, the seller reduced his asking price from $2,700.00 CDN. to $2,000.00 CDN.
And The Lovely Missus RBSinTo still doesn't get it.
Just kill me now.
