This initial contoured version is a nice guitar with the main problem (for me at least) being how heavy it is, caused by the maple top I assume? (I'm not a big Les Paul fan). If it's weight was closer to the S-300's mahogany body it would be a much more comfortable to play. Of course my favourite Guild solid bodies are the S-300's and S-6x's so what do I know about corporate marketing.😁

Was Clapton's guitar a GF-50? Anyone know? Looks great against those black and white plaid clothes. Ah.... The '80s....

Probably so, Stuball. I don't really know enough about those Gruhn-era variations. That is a really gorgeous guitar though, isn't it?!
Strictly a guess on my part.
And yes, a beautiful guitar and comfortable to play.
