Yikes, kinda looks like a butchering job of the fret slot for sure, but could be an optical illusion. Then again, in todays manufacturing sector, it wouldn’t surprise me to see QC say eh, good enough, send it along.
Not really a butchering job, but noticeable...

I suspect it's because of those Evo frets. AFAIK, that's a knew one for Guild. But I'll bet it'll clean up easy.

Yep, agree, particularly since it caught my eye as "new material.".

Been thinking about 'em ever since RayK mentioned 'em a few years back on his custom build. Durability of SS but warmth of typical silver alloy frets. Would go well on the F65ce.

The binding issues on Martins are way overblown, I think. My D18A 1939 has had the repair, and it was simple and inexpensive.
I haven't been as lucky as you've been : had to take my D-28 Marquis 3 times to the repair shop, and the job was poorly done (it does show), and now I don't even dare opening the case anymore, fearing an other go (anyway I've completely lost all my taste for this guitar anyhow). The guy I took it to, had been named "meilleur ouvrier de France" though (best French worker - of the year - !!!). But he didn't do it right.

I would nitpick that on a $6K guitar for sure, but I don’t know that EVO frets alone would cause that, I mean don’t they cut the slots first anyway? Looks like maybe they pulled out the wire to reseat it and pulled out some material in the process. But that does remind me I’ve got a set of Jescar EVO gold wire been meaning to use, need to decide which guitar is all.

Was just trying to explain the gold-ish residue on the fretboard. Oh, absolutely, they cut the fretboard early on.

My D18A just separated at the waist, and my luthier charged me all of $50 to fix it in four places. It came out perfect. Maybe you were just unlucky?

Factory run by business people now (not luthiers). They swopped to an 'environmental friendly' glue that's not very strong, and still use a shrinking material (it's been known for that in a long time) - but it's period correct and looks good (!?) - ). Serious personal problems would have 'helped' I would think. Unlucky ?, too many people face the same problem.

It says 1 of 70...but not #1 of 70...there is a difference...good old English ;)
Oooh, that's true, Jane. But that'd be a first to use it that way. That would be rather underhanded, I think.
Here is number 4 (1038) in Spain! Final inspection 7/6/23, EDIT: 2 days after same day like #1 (1035).

Final inspection is on same day as #1 that we were looking at earlier (6-July-2023). Must've been a very special day in Oxnard!
Oh, you are right, #1 looked initially like 7/4 to me but I agree, that is 7/6.

So I wonder if that means 1036 is 2 of 70 and 1037 is 3 of 70? I know serials don't always work that way, but still, they could have been made as a batch.
