Actually, I think about this quite a bit. I'm partially color-blind. What I see is often not what others see.

Dave

Then I guess, in this instance, we're not seeing the same color.

In this instance (you mentioned black) we probably are seeing the same thing. But don't ask me to distinguish different shades of green/red. I probably won't see the same thing you do.

Dave :D

Yes sir that makes sense. I guess what puzzles me is that you make the music with your left hand, yet because you're frailing on the strings with the other hand it's considered right handed. Technically speaking, if you have someone else strumming the strings, then is it considered no handed?

Well if you really are frailing away then the question makes sense but there are an awful lot of folks who would say it is the picking that is more nuanced and is what separates the good from the great. In the specific case of bass it is the right hand technique (or lack thereof) that makes all of the difference. I suspect that if you set up an experiment where, say, Jamie played bass, then Jamie played the right and Kurt fretted, they would both sound like Jamie and not at all like when Kurt had both hands in play.

So I guess I'm politely disagreeing with your statement that you make music with the left hand on what is normally called a right handed guitar.

I suppose the question is all academic anyway. Takes both hands to make music. Yeah, yeah, I know, I've seen players, using hammer ons and pull offs make music with one hand, but, in order to make consistently good music takes both hands. FWIW, I'm right handed, but I could never swing a bat right handed.....never felt natural to me.

In parting I'll say, someone asked me the other day why are you acting so stupid. I responded, "It's not an act."

Al, how the HELL do you use nail clippers with one hand? You need one hand to use the clippers, and the other hand to clip on...... ???? If you can clip your nails on the same hand as you're holding the clippers.... I really want to meet you one day.....
Oh Tom, Tom, Tom...the question was what can you do better with one hand than with two..ever tried holding nailclippers with two hands while using 'em?

Reminds me of the time someone asked me if I'd ever been to a funeral, to which I replied:
"Yes, but when they opened the casket for viewing, someone realized I was still alive and rescued me."

See, Al? I knew I'd got something wrong. If you ask me which things you can not do better while not using two hands.... you'd better give me a few hours to figure out what it is I'm NOT doing..... or I am doing....
