The Taylor Swift attention didn't/doesn't bother me. Only negative I have is her guitars are not Guilds or AcornHouse.
It doesn’t really bother me either, except the fact that she has complained about all the attention…and that all she has to do is sit three rows back in the player’s family box and the cameras can’t see her. She wants the attention, as does Kelce. 2000 rich and famous people attend the SB every year, many w/ private VIP entrance to the stadium. You never see loading dock tunnel footage of other stars entering, only her. I wonder why? (Her publicist/PR mgr surely knows! 😉 )

Overall, I doubt having her there is doing anything for spawning new NFL fans. Taylor’s main fan base is teenage girls who will mostly all outgrow her music. I don’t hear anything “timeless” about it. She’s all I hear about from my youngest niece, but it’s not like she’s way into music and Taylor happens to be her favorite. It’s just Taylor 24/7. 🫣

I have absolutely no dog in this hunt, MT, but I think Taylor Swift is perhaps the most famous person in her age group in the world right now. And, again, I couldn't care less, but I really think her presence at the Super Bowl caused lots of people to tune in and pay attention to the press coverage after the fact that otherwise would definitely not have.

Oh, and yes, it's too bad she isn't sporting a Guild. I just wonder what happened to her with Taylor Guiltars. She was a huge draw to them for the younger crowd a few years ago...

Maybe Yamaha will find a way to get her on board with Guild someday. That would be a coup. Ain't no way that could've happened in the past. Just sayin' :)

Just like the NFL, I guess I'll join the Taylor Swift veer. Why would her fans outgrow her music? I have numerous Swift fans in my college classes. She's 34, she keeps releasing new music, and her fans will undoubteldy grow with her. I haven't outgrown the Beatles or Led Zeppelin yet...

If I had a daughter I'd be totally happy if she was a Swiftie, as opposed to listening to some of the current "artists" of today.

I don't own any of her music, but what's not to love?

She writes most of her own songs, and plays her own instruments.

She doesn't rely on autotune or soft porn videos.

She has more than once successfully battled large corporations and slimy managers to retain the rights to her songs.

Yes, she's rich and famous and attractive with a famous athlete boyfriend. So?

No matter where she sat at a football game or with who, she would attract the cameras. We live in a celebrity-driven society. She certainly has the right to attend the game and enjoy it like everyone else. I'd rather see her celebrating than Roger Goodell smoozing with billionaire owners...

Anyway, my point is that given most "celebrities" today, particularly in the music industry, I am impressed with her attitude and business savvy. I think she is a great role model for young and not so young girls, or anyone really.

The bigger question is - why she hasn't performed at a Super Bowl half time yet?

Oh no doubt. She is massive. But not unlike teenage girls during Beatlemania, most of her fans tuned in just for her camera time. Same as her young fans that watch the Grammy’s. Her 10 sec spots on camera is all they care about, and the NFL game itself is the equivalent to the Grammy’s award for best adult contemporary jazz award. 🤣

As for Chiefs merch flying off the shelves, I’m sure Swifties are playing a part, but I’d bet the majority is just because the Chiefs have won 3 out of 5 superbowls and gone to 4 AFC championships in a row. There’s always bandwagoning around dynasties in sports, even nationally. Especially w/ young boys. Growing up, 1/2 the kids in school were wearing Steelers and Cowboys jerseys. None of them w/ any ties to Pittsburgh or Dallas.

If you missed it, you can watch it on Youtube without the commercials in half the time.

Not saying all will outgrow it. But most will. We are a minority of instrument playing music lovers. The general population however are mostly made up of trend following sheep when it comes to popular music. 10-15 years ago, Fergie and the Blackeyed Peas were the biggest thing around. Haven’t heard a peep about them in years. Overall, artists are lucky if even 1 out of 100 of their biggest fans during their peak popularity still remain big fans 20-30 years later. Right now Taylor has the masses in the palm of her hand. When the next big star emerges and is all the talk in the hallways of schools, her staying power will also dwindle.

As for Zep, the overwhelming majority of their current hardcore fan base are of the age that were too young to ever see them live. Mostly the ones that “just missed them”. The millions that saw them multiple times during their heyday have mostly moved on w/ a very low % of stragglers still hanging on. That’s just the way the world’s flock of sheep is when it comes to music. Only real timeless music has staying power. That’s likely representative of maybe 1 to 2% of popular music, if even that much. For every Zep/Beatles/Stones, there were 500 other popular bands in their day that few, if any kids today give a #%^# about. 🙁 I just don’t see Taylor’s music (which I’ve been forced to listen to a lot of by my niece) having that kind of staying power. Right now, she’s selling out stadiums because kids parents are caving in to crying conniptions based on peer pressure at school/social media. It would all be different if they actually had to stand in line for 3 days for first come first served tix like we all had to. 🤣 My brother caved big time and got up close aftermarket seats for $450 a pop…then drove his daughter from Charlotte to Atlanta to see Taylor. It was the greatest thing to ever happen to her. 😂😂. (Oh the humanity!!)

I would respectfully disagree that there is any comparison between Fergie and Taylor Swift, by any measure! I predict she will be a huge star until she decides to retire. She's releasing her 11th album in a few months, all platinum sellers. Her first album was released in 2006, she's been a musical force for 18 years already. So she's only 2 years away from your "20 - 30 years" window!

Let me say again that I don't buy her stuff or listen to her music (unless it pops up on the radio), but I've spent all day with people in their 20's for years, and she certainly has staying power with them. Even this past year when she played Fenway Park, I had several students excited to be going. My guess is (like other artists with staying power) it has a lot to do with her music being original and often very personal.

We'll see what happens!

Maybe she'll front a band with Page on guitar and McCartney on bass. They can call themselves "The Billionaires"! But I hope not! :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

My daughter is a rabid Swifty and10-15 years ago TS fans were listening to TS. Her fan base has done nothing but expand and they are growing up with her as mentioned above. She has not done anything to betray her fan base and I see every reason to believe that she will continue to make billions as her fan base eagerly devours every thing she sells.

What may change is that young girls may mot follow her with the same fervor as she “ages out” (as it were) of that demographic, but she has developed something more interesting than your typical pops tar.

Reminds me of a former buddy of mine who worked that scheme. He and a friend would spend the night, be first in line, each buy the six tickets allowable, get the first 10 rows, then sell them to the aftermarket agencies. They'd essentially turn a couple hundred bucks into several thousand.

I’ve never listened to Taylor, but I like what I know of her personally. Even though I only follow college ball & the Oregon Ducks these days, her presence tipped me over to rooting for the Chiefs, so mark me down as a Semi-Swiftie!

Nobody is outgrowing Taylor Swift's music. She has been performing since at least age 11, and is 34 now. It is not just teenage girls that like her. Her album 1989 is basically the equivilent to Dr. Dre The Chronic, generationally. To compare Taylor Swift to Fergie or the Black Eyed Peas, on the internet, is, well...a mistake. I would try to contain that angle, to only LTG. Taylor Swift is essentially this generation's Marylin Monroe, maybe bigger. Look at the stats, they don't lie.

Anyone that genuinley doesn't like her music, simply becuase it is not their style, or anyone simply sick of hearing about her (understandable), these are the people I feel bad for the most, because this thing is just hitting its stride now. The next year or 2 will be an absolute onslaught of Taylor Swift. People that have always been "haters," actually they really just hate themselves (if u dont like whats on the radio...change the station???)

As for Swift performing at the Super Bowl, she was asked to do it this year (prior to dating Kelce), and "politely declined." Honestly I figured she was just so far past that type of gig, and plus an already expensive Super Bowl ticket would balloon well into the thousands, for any seat (I would guess).
Then I realized her tour of Japan and Austrailia made it impossible for her to accept the Super Bowl halftime. Of course she wound up at the game anyway, but a performance was not in the cards. Then a couple months ago I heard there is talk of possibly next year she will do it- extremely unconfirmed.

And Taylor plays all kinds of guitars. She seems to be preferring her holoflake/sparkle Gibson acoustic, over her Taylors these days. She came up in Nashville, and definitley likes Gibsons. She would play a Guild for sure- hand her one of those cherry red jumbos out of Corona, and don't plan on getting it back.

She also has the remarkable ability to play guitar while jumping around in circles in high heels.

well, if you are still reading, thanks! here's one of my favorite videos of her:

They wouldn't change their name to "Swift Guitars". Not even "Taylor's Guitars".
