Man, I'm DYING here! It looks like this beauty is going to sell for a fraction of what it's worth and I have no funds!

Sure hope someone in the Forum gets it. If you do, pls give us a full report!

Good day all. I am new to this forum, never really been a joiner, but this looked like a friendly place. I found your community by accident while doing research on the DV-72 I was watching on e-bay. Read some good things about it, saw some craving and drooling. Learned there were only 200 made, and read on another blog a fellow was looking for one to buy, because UPS destroyed his in delivery. By my count that only leaves 199.

I bought my first Guild, DV-4, just last year. And I learned here it is most likely one of the last made in Tacoma before the move. I had never heard of a Guild before that time, but man it sounded good. I must say here that I don't really play, but for the last forty something years have played "with" the guitar. Trust me, no false modesty here. I'm just a bedroom player.

At any rate after reading what I saw here, and a fellow on another site saying, "If you find one, buy it", I went for it, and I got it. I'm looking for it sometime next week, and will be glad to give a review here.

Good day to all.
Richard

Richard,
Welcome to LTG! I don't have a DV-72... but have heard enough from folks here to know they're something special. Hope yours is everything you are hoping for! Dave

Congratulations, Richard!

That's quite a first splash into the LTG forum!

Look forward to hearing some thoughts on your DV72 once you have some time with her.

That's an awful lotta guitar for the $!

Enjoy!

Hey Richard, congratulations to you sir. I've had a bunch of guitars, and the DV72 is still my favorite, always will be I'm sure. I keep trying to find another guitar that outperforms it......I've tried Martin D28's and D35's, Gibson J45's and a host of Taylors, but I can't find one. I think you'll be very happy.

Do give us a report and post pictures when she arrives.

Nicely done - a good price on what should be a fine guitar. I do enjoy my DV73, and all owners of similar instruments seem to have nothing but good to say about them. It will sound just fine in your bedroom, and I'll bet you'll be astonished at the difference between it and your earlier just-fine Guild.

All the best, and welcome to LTG.

I'm sure you'll enjoy this Guild top of the line specimen.

Gentlemen,
Thanks for the enthusiastic welcome.....and thanks for validating my opinion that what I was willing to spend for the object of my desire wasn't a foolish expenditure.

My wife, however, is another story. I jest. She's the love of my life, and she understands my affliction....G A S. Along with a touch of O C D, she says what I really suffer is A.S.I.A.S. Any stringed instrument aquisition syndrome. Perhaps she's right. I remind her that it's better than having T.C.B.D.A.T.W.H.A.S. The cute blonde down at the waffle house aquisition syndrome.

Speaking of cute blondes, just saw a most beautiful D-30 on ebay. HMMMMMM.

Far be it from me, what doesn't know you from Adam's off ox, to suggest that you have just purchased one of the finest dreadnaughts you are likely ever to play. Certainly one of the finest Guilds.

So don't let that hold you back, but think of it as time to broaden out - there are jumbos, mini-jumbos, archtops, parlour guitars, solid-bodies and chambered instruments, basses and 12-strings. I also found that it was somehow easier when my dear wife was alive if the latest guitar to arrive had a meaningful and visible distinction from the others - not just finer decoration on an instrument of the same basic shape. A little easier, anyway. Made it almost possible to rationalize to myself, if not justify to her, the new acquisition.

Dear John,
Probably should be a song in there somewhere. Your comments are duly noted, and you're right. Perhaps a nice JF-30. Still blonde, and yet different.

Richard

ps Little difference 'tween me and Adams ox, at least between the ears.
