Tarantino supposedly ordered the guitar smashed deliberately to extract the strongest response from JJL. They could have easily smashed a lookalike cheapie, but he wanted it real. I call that a real a-hole thing to do to an irreplaceable antique like that.

I'm sure he did it deliberately. Crappy flick anyway.

We were skiing in Telluride, CO while the cast and crew were hanging out killing time waiting for a snowstorm to film in. Our ski club friends reported several Samuel Jackson and Tarantino sightings at the local grocery store and some bars.

I was recently given a really crappy Fender acoustic. I mean it's like a $100 retail guitar. Neck is warped and the truss rod seems to be broken. I'm either gonna make a shelf out of it or el kabong it. After reading this thread I'm leaning towards el kabonging.

I'd say something stronger than supposedly :)

Feel free to read the article which would allow you to not say "supposedly" and points out that there were duplicates made with the intention of smashing them.

I have no photos of it when apart, but the headstock of my '72 G37 snapped off clean some 30 years ago. Here's a photo of the break today ...

Wilmywood,
Your Guild has a repaired broken headstock??????
I thought Gibson took out a patent on broken headstocks years ago that prevented other guitar makers from having them.
Hope they don't sue you for infringement.

Wilmywood,
Sure it is.
And by way of full disclosure, just so you know I'm not picking on Gibson unfairly, I own one of their guitars, a used j-45, which I like very much, and it came with a broken and repaired headstock.

I disagree. If you ever opened your case and found a snapped off headstock (which I wouldn't wish on anyone), you would no doubt agree.

Funny is ALWAYS in the eye of the beholder.

Wimywood,
You stated that your headstock broke 30 years ago, and was repaired. And the photo you posted would indicate that you still own and play that guitar.
Time, I think to get over it.

I'll get over it in my own time, thank you. But thanks for your misguided input.

I think you should get over your tactless, tasteless, unfunny joke.
