Hi all! This is my first post here as I just finally got my first Guild! And what better group of folks to share the pics with ;) I was researching 12 string acoustics, and had settled on a Guild being the one. As my budget won't allow for an F512 yet, I set my eyes on the Westerly D1212. I look at the specs, all solid mahogany, bone nut and saddle, dreadnought size and looks great online. It had lot of great reviews here and on the acoustic guitar forum and so a few months back I decided I'm doing it, went to buy it and oh no! They were out of stock everywhere! Worse, Guild had is listed as discontinued on their site. I was a little bummed after getting to the buying decision and then getting skunked. Figured ok, now I have to just save for the F512.

Well cut to just last week I get an email that Sweetwater got more in stock, so I hurried and jumped on it, and nabbed one before they were all gone again. In fact, waited til they had photographed a bunch and chose the best looking one they had at the time. So here it is after playing it for a few hours, what ya think? By the way, anyone wanting one, contact Sweetwater and ask in serial# 3213049 is still available, its equally stunning! So there are more out there for anyone wanting a great 12 string. After it warmed up from playing it really sounds fantastic. Hard strumming, finger picking, flat picking appreggios, it all sounds good. Be hard to put it down and give my other guitars love at the moment. Ugh, I love my Guild! And so does my lab/retriever mix Cabo ;) With the poly "sheenness", different lighting can give it different looks too, dang, need to take it out in the sunshine.

Welcome Boneman. Great introduction and "thank you" for sharing your 12 string and your journey.
Sweetwater has been great, for me, to deal with, also.

Thanks guys! Gotta say looking at it again this morning, I really like the Chesterfield emblem on the headstock too, just a classy detail. Glad I didn’t wait! :)

Congratulations! I'm liking that strap, too!

Yes. In addition to a Welcome I was torn between praising the strap or expressing disappointment in my personal reaction to the wonderful striping and the see through pickguard.

Welcome to LTG Boneman, and congrats on a beautiful Guild 12-string!! I do love the wood grain on that one. Looks like Cabo approves, as well. I've found Sweetwater to be a really good business to deal with. Fair, on the ball, honest. Good job!! (y)

Thanks! it’s from Italia leather straps in CA, picked up with another when they had their 2 for 1 sale. Though I erred cause I thought the leather backed would be better, (certainly more expensive), but it’s slippery and doesn’t help with neck dive. Should have went with normal suede backing. Now I need to buy two more guitars and get two more straps next sale!. Lol

Indeed! Just marveling at the see through pickguard myself, the rosette binding around the sound hole, mm mmm. Guild did a great job, MIC or not!

Oh and let me also say, Van Halen’s ”Somebody get me a doctor” sounds fantastic on this! Not what it was intended for I’m sure, but hey why the heck not!? Rock on 🤟

I just looked again at my D1212 because I'd never noticed the transparency of the pickguard. It's not apparent in normal lighting. It seems that a bright camera flash penetrates it, the way paparazzi flashes can see through a dress's sheer fabric (so I'm told).

Thank you for that observation.

Man oh man, smartly done! That thing is gorgeous! 12-strings are so great, and Guilds are definitely the way to go. Welcome to LTG and the Guild 12ers Club!

Excuse my ignorance, but perhaps someone can please help me identify this? Is it some sort of pickup attachment? Turns out I inspected the gig bag and found stuffed in it, this white Guild pouch which included some picks(plectrums), an owners guide, along with a truss rod allen-key and this clip on device. The short cord and spring loaded squeeze handle has me stumped, I thought might be a pickup of some sort, but where do you even clip it on? And then you have to play within a foot of whatever you plug it into?. Any insight to what it is and whether its useful or not would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.IMG_4760.JPG

It's a simple pickup. It can plug into a tuner or a phone, eliminating the background noise that would be picked up by the device's microphone.

Clip on to the headstock?

If I have an old school tuner with 1/4" phone jacks as input and output I can use this (on my non-electric guitar) to make the tuner into an oversized and unwieldly Snark?

Not a product I would have thought of needing but if one "fell into my lap" I'd use it.
