Nice project! Any chance of hearing a sound clip?

Beautiful shop too. I sure wish I had a nice facility like that for building guitars.

WOW   :D :D :D

Great thread! I'm fortunate to have a handful of great luthiers nearby for when the time comes to do a neck re-set on the F112, but this looks to be a wonderful job.

Enjoy it, Southern Guild!

Re: 1977 GUILD D-25M RESTORATION COMPLETE! PIC'S - SHIPS 1/04/10

:D Hey, W-O-W !!!!!!!! and,....THANKS EVERYBODY.
After all the Christmas morning 'Santa stuff' with my daughter, and photos with my wife, daughter and her Christmas gifts , we began to get ready for some time away in Sydney to be with friends and family there. Before leaving the house, I decided to quickly check the computer for any emails.....and WOW Am I glad that I did! These photos are what I was greeted with on Christmas morning!
As you all can imagine, A had a heart full of JOY , releaf, wonder and suprise. Like being a kid again! I did not expect her to be done as yet!!!! All this came as a complete suprise! Indeed, what "supernatural" Christmas goodness!.....A 1977 Guild D-25M ....There awaiting me!!!! ALMOST as good as finding her under the Christmas tree!
Dadthrash has been been WONDERFUL at EACH and EVERY step in this process in doing what he has done in facilitating all this 'magic' stuff happening here, Todd has done a top notch job on repairing her, and documenting this too, and that D-25 IS LOOKING and SOUNDING REALLY GREAT!!!!!
How lucky am I!!!!! This WHOLE process has been so wonderful, and positive, affirming and Good, at alot of levels............and so this Guitar is steeped in good vibrations and kindness.....it HAS to make some joyous sounds!!! I intend to write a good many songs with her!
Added to all the extra efforts and kindness shown by Dadthrash and Todd..........Someone else became involved in making this guitar happen for me. My brother-in-law in the States( actually more like a close friend and BROTHER, himself a professional musician of many years) unbeknownst to me, upon hearing of this guitar and my excitement about it, knowing how much it would be meaning to me personally....decided to become involved. I had shared some of the info and Email photos with him, and he then secretly contacted Dadthrash in order to organise payment in full for the guitars repair! ( Now, I should add that He has only recently lost HIS full time job and just started up his own musical instrument repair buisness....fixing Woodwinds and brass. NOT exactly someone who is in an easy position to financially assist ME......yet he HAS!) What a beautiful, intuitive, instinctive, humbling and kind gesture! COMPLETELY unexpected and perfect in its effect, purpose and intent.
NOW....THIS guitar , already very special to me.....has now become MORE SO!!!......My getting this guitar is the result of SO MANY acts of KINDNESS to ME, By folks i have never met, (yet!) and someone I have respected and known since age 8 .........I am truely humbled. How can I NOT be reminded of ALL this EVERY time I pick up this guitar!!!?
A heart full of goodness is part of this one!
I still am in a bit of emotional stir about all this...as I was Christmas morning...a bit tearfull, and VERY much touched. I cant believe it is all happening and has happened.......and I am feeling SO VERY THANKFUL to all involved!
THANKS BILL!!!!!! and DADTHRASH, and Todd.....I will do you ALL proud with it!! Stay tuned!!
Such things DO make huge differences in peoples lives....and THOSE positive aspects take on a life of their own...and move around to affect others.
WHAT a Magic, and heartfelt Christmas gift from all of you.
THIS guitar , and all the goodness contained therein, is arriving RIGHT ON TIME for me and my life. From the morning I saw this one up for sale, and contacted Dadthrash, and got to know about him and it..and we each shared a bit of our stories, It always been alot more than 'just a guitar'. NOW, Thanks to my BROTHER in law, that sentiment has just doubled!
I WILL be playing this Guitar ALOT!!!! ALOT of heart and Soul is already in her......and ALOT will be going into her, coming out too!
THIS is A "SUPERNATURAL" HEALING instrument, if ever one was made!!!
I am feeling VERY blessed, and THANKFUL to all involved.
Dont know how to share those sound bites with you all...but believe me.....IT SOUNDS GREAT!!!!
back again soon. but for now,
Thank you ALL. :D SouthernGuild

Wow!
It was pretty special to have viewed all the in-progress photos and now to hear the sound! That D25 helps to explain why we're all so 'wild' about them.

Re: 1977 GUILD D-25M RESTORATION COMPLETE! PIC'S - SHIPS 1/04/10

Thanks Dread, Jane, Treem, Markus and Guildmark, Doctor S, Bluesey and Joe, and all you folks out there who have listened in:D and Yes THANKS DADTHRASH!!! Very special stuff to be SURE. "GUILDMENSHIP!" .......may it bring out the best in all of us. May it bring us all into a better NEW YEAR.
Seems now, my Brother-in laws actions here have opened a door, and started a process towards some much needed healing to a fractured family ( not my little family here, but my immediate 'USA family') Communications , minds and hearts are opening ....and folks who have not spoken in far too long , are soon to get talking again ( the story is too big to write here ( yet a common family story of divorce , struggle to accept, hurt ,and loss ) POSITIVE movement is to occur, and ....suffice to say.......in unexpected ways, the 'healing machine' is starting its work already! ......HEALING is starting to occur!) That in itself ,is far more than enough.
The new year is looking much .....much better!
And,.....DOES'NT THAT GUITAR SOUND GREAT!!!
I cant wait to get ahold of her!
Pretty cool stuff!
:D Thanks all! Southern

Re: 1977 GUILD D-25M RESTORATION COMPLETE! PIC'S - SHIPS 1/04/10

Bluesy....Guys....there is SO MUCH good stuff happening behind the scenes with this one , that I am just so touched with the kindness shown by Dadthrash at EVERY step along the way, by the job that Todd has done, and by the suprise intervention of my stateside BROTHER-in law.....I repeat myself, but I shall be reminded of all this each time i grab this guitar!!!
and I will be grabbing her every day!!! ...and feeling MUCH inspired, at a few levels......head, heart, playing and practising, learning and GROWING.
Just GREAT MOJO!!!
SO MUCH background to fill in here, and i am on the hop right now, and cant give that the time it deserves....but SHE IS IN TRANSIT AS WE TYPE!!! ( its almost 'not real to me' but the calender is marked and she IS COMING!!!!! Due here via USPS on Tues Jan 6th.....Weds my time!! ( I will be waiting at the post office!! actually he will give me a call when she arrives. ) OHHHHHHHHH I CANT WAIT!!!!! I feel like a kid counting down to Christmas !
Dadthrash held onto her a few days to see how she settled in over the week ( a GREAT IDEA) then sent her back in for a few minor adjustments , fret leveling, AND to have an extra saddle made up too ( to adjust easily to a higher action if desired...a thoughtful and VERY COOL gift from Dadthrash!) She was picked up, inspected, Packed up with great care, and mailed off yesterday! I am tracking her now!
Dadthrash and I have become good friends through this whole process ( Since OCTOBER!!) and He has ALWAYS kept me well informed and gave me great advice and Choices at each and every step of the way of this guitars purchase and repair. A better job could not have been done there, and .....I am so thankful and appreciative. a TRUE honourable gentleman and man of his word, he has worked with Todd at Fretworks,...both going beyond the norm, to make this guitar the best she can be!
I am both touched and OVERJOYED!!!.....and a bit indebted.
Goodness and kindness exudes from this guitar already......I shall make some 'fine' music ( for 'me' )with her....stay tuned folks.....You have not heard the last from this one!!
Did i mention Im feeling REALLY MOTIVATED TOO!!!!
Ill let you know when she arrives......just 5 days Away!!!!
THANKS all! :D HAPPY Southern!

PS, UPDATE....just checked, She is in San Francisco right now!!!!! THIS IS ACTUALLY ALLOTTA FUN!!! :D

Re: 1977 GUILD D-25M RESTORATION ***SHE'S HEADED TO AUSTRALIA***

SG,
I am glad you are enjoying the travels of your D-25M...as I am also. But....this is the easy part....

WAIT TILL THE BOX IS SITTING IN YOUR LIVING ROOM....and all you can do is stare at it for 24+ hours while she acclimates!!!!

And then.....All you can do is stare at the CLOSED CASE for another 12 to 24 hours....while she acclimates some more!!!!

THAT PART ALWAYS DRIVES ME CRAZY!!!!!!! (Even after all these years!!!!)

HOPE SHE IS ALL YOU EVER DREAMED OF!!!

Best,
MRT
