Tom and Dave, I just received a phone call from twocorgis to let me know there was a thread about this great old guitar. So, of course, I needed to check to see how its restoration is coming along.

Wow, it's been six years, Tom? Just seems like yesterday I met the fellow outside of Austin and brought the old beat-up, sad Mark VI home to send onto Tom. During the negotiations, I was in phone contact with Tom to make sure I paid what was a 'fair' price for such a rare Guild.....in such bad condition. Before Guild was sold to Cordoba, I remember Tom was talking to them about getting some of their old Brazilian rosewood for the repair work. Can't wait to find-out how that went. Can't wait to see the 'new' old Mark VI.

P.S. Thanks, Sandy, for letting me know about this thread.

Toni, we were never able to source a piece of Brazilian from Guild.

WW, No, I think that wouldn't have been number 141 of all Marks. They weren't consecutive through all the various models (Mark I through Mark VII). This one is interesting in that while it is number 141 Mark VI, I don't know where it stands in production count as an Artist Special. Perhaps Hans knows?

would be fun to know! we will wait for Hans :)

I remember Tom and I chatted a little bit about trying to get NH involved in this project to whatever degree. I remember discussing the Braz back wood, and it's too bad NH wouldn't help at least source the wood. The Braz they had was sitting in a pile and I don't think they ever used it!

You guys did an exceptionally beautiful job there, by the way. I'd love to know how you joined all that wood together. Did you take any pictures of that process?

That guitar has some of the best mojo I've ever seen! Thanks for sharing Tom and Dave.

Well, Carlo was trained in the 'Spanish' tradition and consequently these high-end Guild Mark models have the same neck/body construction as the traditional Spanish makers would have used.

Sincerely,

Hans Moust

Hans, I understand that, but since there are different building traditions among the Spanish makers, I just wanted to 'see for myself.' For instance, I'd love to see pics of how the sides cut into the neck.

Have a good weekend, Harry

Not sure if there's actual pictures showing the joining process. Here's something maybe?

Cool Dave, have you got pics of the underside of the top? Did the sides come off? Do you have pics of the side of the neck where the sides actually cut into the neck?

I had an early '70s Ramirez 1A and I've always liked the extra long-scale guitars, even though the extra-length has been too rough on my hands.

Does this help? It's all I got handy...

Just curious Dave; how involved were you in this project? The work is outstanding!

That looks Amazing! Great work on that little gem. I have to ask if this is going to be relegated to a personal guitar for either of you or will it be for sale in the guitar shop when it is finished?

Thanks, TX!

I think it may be available at some point. But that's entirely up to Tom, of course.

Tom, Dave, in the bridge plate, it looks like it is tapered towards the fan braces. Are the fans notched over the thinned plate, or is the plate seperate pieces in between the fan braces?

Had to re-glue a few of the fan braces, the bridge plate seemed to be made up of separate pieces.

I haven't gotten that far yet. As I am not a classical guitarist, nor Willie Nelson, there is a good chance it will be for sale at some point. Just had a though! If I wanted a
Willie guitar, should have left it the way it was.

I was just Curious Tom, I think this is a really cool Guild to start with. Then add the aspect of the LTG connection to it with Lady Texan facilitating the acquisition and you ultimately doing the Amazing work to bring it back to life and it reminds me of a Rescue pup that is ready to find it's Furever home if it hasn't already. Just a cool Guild with a really cool connection to the LTG Community!
