It is notable that in the statement below they mention ukulele players. There is a huge global ukulele player community, and surprisingly Yamaha so far has not had a line of Ukuleles though this is very popular in Japan. However there is a full line of Cordoba ukes and it makes me wonder if one of the main goals of CMG acquisition was getting foot into the uke market. Guild would be small compared to that.

By starting to carry CMG products, Yamaha Music Japan Co., Ltd. has expanded its lineup with features and appeal that are different from traditional Yamaha guitars, meeting the wide needs of guitarists and ukulele players. We will respond. We will create new customer value by leveraging the domestic market and customer knowledge we have accumulated over the years, and by maximizing the synergies between Yamaha and the brands we handle, including Line 6 and Ampeg.

Anyone thinking business is anything but a profit generating enterprise is being naive. We have to trust Yamaha will do the brand justice and I personally don't have doubts they know what they are doing, unlike Fender and Gibson who between them have bought and closed more companies than you can count. Better Yamaha than Fender.
