Welcome! Other than knowing that you have a Guild D-50 with a 'natural top' from the year 1979, what else would you like to know?
Sincerely,
Hans Moust

I dated it by looking at the serial number on the label, and all the specs that I can see in the photos you posted confirm that year.hans how did you come up with the year im getting a few different awensers
Hans literally wrote the book on Guild guitars and has better records than any of the various Guild owners ever did. A little history, the D50 was introduced in the 1963 catalog (p 121 in Hans book). Guild transitioned from Hoboken, NJ to Westerly, RI late '60s but used the Hoboken labels until they were gone, then used a "Made in USA" label before the Made in Westerly labels.hans how did you come up with the year im getting a few different awensers
yes the owner before me said it fell off stage and he had it fixed it is noticeable but dosent efect play and if it evry start to need attention i will get it checkedI dated it by looking at the serial number on the label, and all the specs that I can see in the photos you posted confirm that year.
By the way, it looks like the headstock had a serious break. I can't tell if it has been repaired already, but maybe you should show it to repairman with a good reputation who should be able to tell you if the headstock break needs attention.
Sincerely,

Guild serial numbers can be confusing! If you take the last digit off the number, he would have been right, 1962's numbers were 18420 to 22722, so 20501 would have been right in the middle As others have stated, a '62 wouldn't have a Westerly label. I think the top of the headstock would also be a different shape, similar to a Gibson and the TRC would be different.well i was in a music store yesterday purchasing new strings and the owner came out to look at my guild he said by the ser # it was a 62 just trying to find out what i have , thanx for the feedback
Actually, in '62, they hadn't made any D50's yet. They had crowned headstocks when they were introduced (along with the D40) in '63.Guild serial numbers can be confusing! To be honest, I had seen in an earlier post that the D50 was introduced in '63, but just wanted to say about the different style of headstock on '62s I believe that 1963 was the year that the change was made, though the crowned headstock does go back further on the Artist Award and Johnny Smith Award.Actually, in '62, they hadn't made any D50's yet.
