Welcome woahhh. :D

Put your feet up and stay awhile.

I'm at Graham's place right now.
You're right ...crappy weather all day. :(

Hi Woahhh :D Canada's North of the Arctic circle isn't it Carl - so I guess crappy weather is the norm. Will the snow have melted by July - I'm paying a little visit to the South Western reaches of the barren wastes :mrgreen:

@bluesypicky

You must have me confused with someone else :lol:

Any chance any DV52 owners would upload some of their pics? Just for fun!

This one now resides in England, but was the first Guild I owned.

@Graham

How did you find the pickup worked just mounted in the soundhole? And I've also toyed with changing the tuners to something "vintage" but really can't complain with the grovers on there now. They look pretty good too! What did you change them out for?

I put Grover Super Rotos on it, just for something different. Nothing wrong with the original tuners.

As for the pickup, I don't play out and only used that soundhole one a couple of times. It was OK, but I would put a K&K mini in it if I was a bit more serious.

Calling Dreadnut. He has a stunning sunburst DV52, with custom fretboard inlay.

I have a DV62, same basic guitar. Initial production DV52's were satin finish & the DV62 was the High Gloss model.

Welcome whoahhh,

As you can see from my avatar, I live in the 'sausage. That sure is one bodacious guitbox you've got there, looks like an 'adi top to me, yowza!

I put a compensated bone saddle (it has near perfect intonation) and black buffalo horn bridge pins (0.200") in mine; refer to pic below.

You can PM me for more info.

Welcome Whoahhh!
Just back from a GAS-free weekend of counting birds and then I log on and take a look at this beauty, and now I'm right back to drooling over Guilds I don't have....yet!
I'll just say 'thanks' for helping me to....refocus! :wink:

Enjoy,
Joe

Got this one from a pawn shop about 8 years ago, the abalone block inlays were already there when I bought it.

Dread, that's a gorgeous burst you got there....
Just curious: Do you know the story behind the block inlays? Were they added on the original fingerboard, or was it factory built? (Sorry if I missed the train in case you already elaborated on it...)

Well, I first emailed pics to Hans years ago, he told me it must be customized 'cause the factory never used these inlays.

I snagged it from a pawn shop off e-bay. I'd been looking for a F-50, then I stumbled across this one. It had a BIN of $679, so after a little research I brought the hammer down. It arrived in mint condition except the saddle had been shaved too low, so that had to be replaced. She sounds as good as she looks!

I wish I could tell you more about the block inlays, but I haven't a clue who did them. They look like they belong there, though!

I wanted to ask, if I ever need to have work done to it where is a good place to take it? I'm in the Greater Toronto Area. Any well known guys?

Hi Whoa & welcome to LTG.

For luthiers in Toronto, I can second Graham's recommendation for the 12th Fret. Although I've never had any work done there, I've spent many pleasant hours browsing. It's in the east end, Danforth Ave near Woodbine.

I can also recommend Ring Music, on Harbord St. near Spadina, http://www.ringmusic.com It's a small, one-person operation, but John the owner is very friendly and easy to deal with.

Enjoy your DV52 :D
