Hello all! I hail from Newnan, GA (south Atlanta area) and thought I'd post a pic of my 1976 M-80.

I rescued the M-80 from a pawnshop in Jonesborogh GA on Tara Blvd Dec 1998. It was in real rough shape. Missing covers, chunks of neck binding gone, finish just trashed. The frets were well worn but besides that, a great guitar :) ! Well, $180 later I took her home.

A couple of months later I sent her to Westerly RI for a full rehab. Was not cheap but they did a full refinish, re-fret, & repair. It took 8 months. Well worth the wait 'cause she came back fantastic. They told me I got bumped a bit because some guy named Richie Havens had sent in a couple of guitars for repair... :)

They could not make an engraved M-80 truss rod cover so it has a plain one. When I spoke with them back then, they mentioned that this was the 10th M-80 that they had in that year for repair/re-finish, way above average. I guess everyone was wanting them again. Normally they saw maybe one per year.

I'd like to get an engraved M-80 truss rod cover so if anyone has a spare please let me know!

Thanks!

Understood. How about some nice close up pictures of your engraved truss rod cover so I can send mine and the photos to John Polk at Terrapin guitars so he can make me one?

John's made over a dozen custom pickguards for me and a few trussrod covers and his quality is top notch!

http://www.terrapinisland.com/

I am a customer of John's - no relationship to him otherwise.

And you have a very nice M-80!!! I'm glad to see another one alive and kicking!

I do have to say that I am not fond of the 1980's version of the M-80. The 70's version is where it's at for me.

Welcome Tony. Your M-80 looks a bit like the one I recently sold and shipped to our own Hagmeat in Australia ... only mine/his was not is as beautilicious shape as yours. Excellent rescue of that one.

We have been. Either something big's brewing or we're all fat and happy with the solid bodies we have.

Those are two beautiful guitars. I love the look of an M-80.

I've been trying to join this club for years. The M-80 is the ultimate guitar on my wish list, and I can't seem to find one anywhere.

Now that we know, we'll put the collective enabling powers of the LTG to work, and will find you an M-80.

Ugh. not natural/caramel. I'll have to save my money for anything other than natural from here on out.

I've bought two naturals in the last few weeks - An S60 with an HB1 and a 73 S-100. in both instances, I immediately regretted the decision.

Edit - BUT I MUST SAY THIS: Thank you so very much for thinking of me and posting the link. I really do appreciate the community here and the GAS enablement. I love it!
