Good point, Dave - it's probably the most "social" sport, four hours with good friends, enjoying the outdoors.
Not something to do with someone you can't stand!

Social event? Yes.
Business negotiation meeting? Yes.
"Sport"? Really?... :dejection:

I think any definition of "sport" that has room for synchronized swimming, some gymnastics events, figure skating and target shooting can make room for golf. It requires the physical and mental skills to do something in a repeatable and accurate fashion. Of course, I've heard some blues guitarists who never get "out of the box" which makes what they do very repeatable so maybe playing The Blues mechanically is a sport too

Certainly not the way I play. But I get a lot of enjoyment out of it. Did I mention the beer part?

Sarcasm? We don't do sarcasm here. You must have us confused with some other forum.Or did I miss the sarcasm somewhere? :hororr:
You can drink beer and whack the ball around, or you can play golf. It's a highly intense sport to play well. Granted it's not a triathalon, but to play well over 18 holes is very hard to do. To play at the level the pros play, over 4 days, is really incredible.
OK, so I whack the ball around. Beer comes after. I've found that doing both at once makes my game even worse. :smiley_simmons:
Would you please change your handle to "Ballwhacker".... as going forward this what everyone here will refer to, when addressing you? :cupcake:
Regulation is the latest advance in pole dancing's evolution from strip-club staple toward serious sport.
I started playing golf when I was 9 yrs old back in Indiana. Loved it from the start and now, at 67, I still hold down a 9 handicap and love the game more than ever.
Here's a couple of pics of my home course taken from the 16th tee looking both ways. It's The Ocean Course, a Scottish links design located in Half Moon Bay, CA.:
Looking north towards San Francisco. That's a Ritz Carlton hotel on the bluff. In the distance under the satellite tracking station is famous Maverick's Beach where they hold the annual World Surfing Championships:
Looking south towards Santa Cruz:
I always walk when i play and use a lightweight carrying bag for my clubs. This course is rated in the Top 10 in California, but I rate it in the Top 4. If you're a golfer and like Scottish Links style of golf, don't miss this track!
Properly done, golf courses are winners.

It's a tough sport . Maybe not as physically demanding as most but mentally it way up there. I don't golf and really never cared for it but others love it so good for them .
