"What's 18 cost walking...?"

The price is the same whether you choose to walk or ride.

As a local, I get a special deal where I can play during the week for around $90. Regular folks pay twice that.

I'm an early riser and when I play I like to take the first tee time at 0700hrs. I almost always play solo and it's just a fantastic nature walk with some golf thrown in. Usually takes me a little under 3hrs to walk the course. There's a view of the ocean from every hole with the last three holes right ON the ocean.

The Ocean Course is just one of two courses there. The other course (designed by Arnold Palmer) is nice, but only the last hole is on the ocean. It is not a links style course, so I never play it.

Too rich for my blood. When I travel and take my clubs I usually play the munies and public courses. The course at Univ. South Florida is very reasonable week days. I think I paid something like 25$-30$ but that was years ago. The most I ever paid was $108 with a cart in Puerto Rico. That sure is a beautiful course though. I think I'll put a round on one of the top courses on my bucket list.

You will be very glad you did!

Fact is, during my working years I had a perk in that I could entertain top customers with golf at Pebble Beach (about 1.5hrs from my home). That meant I got to play for FREE!

Nice perk...

Anyway, I logged over 120 rounds at Pebble Beach at no cost to me and for years it was my "home course". You could say I know it very well! However, despite the cost differences ($90 vs $500+), I would rather play The Ocean Course in Half Moon Bay than Pebble Beach. I know several others who say the same thing.

I'm very lucky to have it in my back yard. BTW, this is also Neil's "Home Course". His ranch overlooks the place.

I see him there once in awhile. Can always spot his '57 ElDorado Caddy in the parking lot! You can see the car in this great video:

My home course is a little 9 holer that's 103 years old. $800 bucks buys a full senior membership and I can play till I pass out. Doesn't seem to improve my game though. I did play Freddie Couples' home course in Seattle. Really nice layout with spectacular views of Mt Rainier. Folks I played with regaled me with stories about how Freddie played each hole from when he was kid. "Freddie used hit a 6 iron from here." :biggrin-new:
