I've got a 2005 Martin Steve Miller "Pegasus" 000C style guitar. One of those 1 0f 383 limited editions.
Really nice guitar with the best of everything. Engleman top with a nice vintage toner, Lightly quilted mahogany body, ebony fingerboard and bridge and pins.
Got it on a close out deal from the music store I work out of for a price I couldn't refuse.
I love the 1 3/4" wide nut and short scale and the "Torch" inlay on the headstock.
A great fingerstyle guitar.

Long story short. I fell into a 68 Martin D-28 last week. A little mojo'd up, and needs a neck reset, but the price was crazy right, and my luthier said if I didn't buy it, he would in a heartbeat. Sadly, my emergency fund is now down to the nubs and I need to pay for that reset, so somethings gonna have to go. It's like "Sophies Choice" picking between the GF-25 and the D-25, but I've decided that the GF-25 has to go.

It's now currently under the bed, awaiting a trip Chicago Fretworks for the neck job and a few other tidbits. I'll have about $1500 invested when it's all done. I'm also on the hunt for a 000-15M, but I'm waitjng for a dealio. I do miss that GF-25,though.

Nobody, and I mean nobody, does a classier headstock than Martin. One of these days I want a "standard" model with a slothead and maybe even a torch inlay if I get lucky. :)

You won't be sorry, Tony. I absolutely adore mine. They're made of sapele now which is
a stripier looking species of mahogany (no idea what, if any tonal differences exist), but
I cannot say enough about how sweet this guitar sounds. Has plenty of volume for such
a little guy, too.

Uh... Fungus,

Someboy's gonna ask, so it may as well be me:

What's the deal with the guitar, and two beers in the bathroom? (The G-rated version, please)

I'm guessing reverb?

Was it a -25 or a -28, Doc? The HD-28 is the one that spoke to me, and the one I bought last year (used) from a fellow on the UMGF. It's a stellar guitar.

HD-28 or HD-35, either is nice, if it speaks to you.

Doc, I can't begin to know what you're going through, but I'll bet your wife loved to hear you play.I'd also bet that she can still hear you. Play that thing.

Hi Guys
Here is my Martin DDD28 that I made for our music store roof in for a makeover.
The music store moved this summer to a new location and I had a chance to spruce it up after about 5 years in the weather.

After a power washing.
Pretty sad looking but surprisingly still tight joints. Only a few places needed regluing.
Thats a real testament for Titebond 2 All Weather glue.

After planing, sanding, patching, gluing, planing, sanding etc. etc.

The weather streaking came out a nice shade of brown.
Tried pin striping the edges for a purfling. Majic marker taped on a stick.
Not bad from a distance.

Just in time for the 4th of July parade the next day.

The store owners Hank and Ana trying it out before taking delivery.
With some tension on the strings/aircraft cable, it has a great bass. Similar to a Kettle Drum.

Hank, who is a great jazz musician on trombone and trumpet, playing a cool bass line.

Hey, RT66... I remember your pictures of that beauty up on the roof of your store (I can't remember if that was here or over on one of the other guitar fora). I have to tell you, that triple-D looks GREAT now with the new patina and finish job. It also looks to me like you added two purfling strips on the top, am I right? Is that paint or did you actually rout it out and do it in wood? Man, that is a whole lotta' guitar to love.

It's *almost* an HDDD! You just need to do some herringbone and shift the braces a little. :D :D

Seriously, has Mr. Martin seen this? I can't imagine him not being impressed with this American-sized homage.
