I have identified a new guitar issue, which I now copyright as G.A.V.E.U.P., the acronym for Guitar Accessibility Versus Expense Unilateral Postulate. I am blessed with 3 quality instruments, and they are kept in humidified hard shell cases in the closet of what my wife lets me call my "music room" since that is the only place in the house I could store them.
So when I have 5 or 10 minutes to pick, do I go through the trouble of pulling out, tuning up, wiping down, and playing the '64 Troubadour? The slope shouldered Gibson? The delicious D-55? Why, no. I pick up the uncased,un-humidified $99 Hohner in the corner. Play it for a few moments, put it down, and go back to what I should have been doing. I gave up.
