A green SF-4 would be sweet indeed
I seem to recall Hans telling me after I got my SF that SF-4's were made in small numbers with gold and ebony in the early 90's, but how small I do not know. Only the man can answer that. I am hoping the second Guild Guitar Book covering the remaining years of production will be out soon so we can all have the info.

There are 3 more of those 1991 guitars currently for sale in a shop in Switzerland, but the price is really steep! One in Green, one in Red and one in Plum!

Actually, that shop has 35 great Guilds on offer, just the prices are in the way of selling them...

Interesting. Never heard of "plum" as a factory finish.

This red one in their inventory looks an awful lot like the "plum" one. I wonder if they mislabeled their photos or whether someone was having way too much fun when they decided the color was plum?

Thats what I get for being a knowitall!

Its funny - I was A/Bing my two Starfires and was struck by how good, but different they both sound. I also noticed that the neck pickup sounds glorious on the redhead.

I attributed the differences to the guitar - its thiiner, has a maple neck (other is hog), ebony board, etc.

Now I need to take a closer look and make some clips for you all.

I think I was expecting it to sound like my '73 did, and it doesnt. Its amazing the power of perception.

All hail the mighty Hans! :)

The pickups are SD-1s. I had some small hope for HB-1s since it's a '94, but I pulled 'em for inspection and they're almost identical to the ones I had in my '97 SFIII. Still worlds better than Fender HBs, but you know how it is when you get excited for the real thing.

Hello GAD,

That's what I expected. I believe you asked me what kind of pickups would be in that guitar and I answered that they should be HB-1s.

Well, that's what they are. These are not SD-1s.

Hope that makes you happy!

Sincerely,

Hans Moust
