Bought this in around 1972.
Paid bra-zillions for it; in those dark days the gummint extorted horrendous import duties from us.
Saw it, and just had to have it, as well as being a "top-shelf" item it just looked so "WOW!!"
Still in regular use. In fact, I feel an attack coming on !

I have a purchasing philosophy: Buy once, buy good.

Coastie, whats the principle of its design? 9 points of contact on the platter. What material is the plinth? I'm assuming belt drive.

Yep, belt drive.
11 lb. platter with gold-plated brass weights. Statically balanced to within 3 grammes.
Plinth is black perspex over 5 ply.
Main bearing incorporates a silicone fluid-filled well rotating at the same speed as the platter, fine speed adjustment being provided by a static vane immersed in the fluid.
On/off switching accomplished by means of a magnetically-actuated vacuum switch.
Wow and flutter claimed as 0.05%
3 sprung, insulated feet.

Coastie, that's a beauty.

I agree, Jeff and others, we don't need no stinkin' digital. Around 1990 or so, when LP's really began to disappear for good, Zilla was mighty peeved. All the CD people had gotten so smug about how much better CD's were. I had to stop talking about the demise of the LP, it made me so angry.

And, gee guys, I felt totally isolated until I wandered into this valley to find other sadder-but-wiser dinos.
