Chazmo has summarized very well. I'll just add, as an owner of a New Hartford 512, I'm very happy with the guitar.

Hey, Son Le. If you decide not to jump on that 2K 512 please let me know who the dealer is. I might have to take that plunge.

Re: looking for F512

Charliea,
I contacted the Guild guitar shop and they willing to sale for the same price they sold to me for the new F512. Because they said I am their best customer!!! actually I know the guitar shop owner very well. They order from the factory for me and take 1 week. I don't like the guitar strap pin on the side below the neck, so they will remove that for me. email me I will give you the contact info.

Have to concur with you guys regarding the new NH F-512s. Played one at a small jam at Fred's/valleyguys house over the weekend. Very impressive. All my guitars are Westerlys, and for a guitar that was literally brand new out of the box....it had a sweet, refined sound...one of the nicest "new" guitars I've played in a while.

That guitar might sway me into owning a Guild that wasn't manufactured during the Ford-Carter-Reagan Administrations

Re: looking for F512

Dadaist,
I will let you know how my new F512 sounds like. It should be here next week. Me too, I have 78's F50R and D55. You know I am an engineer for 25 years and you have to give credit to the guitar builders try to improve the guitar quality and performance. I visited my friend local guitar shop 3 weeks ago and he builds excellent accoustic guitars. He has been doing this for 11 years and he said "look Son Le!" I have a very skill hand but I can not duplicate exact every neck, every piece of wood from guitar to guitar. That is why the sound are so different and it takes me a long time to adjust to make it sound good.

With latest technology on machines. He be able to cut and duplicate exact to +-.005" and the guitar come together so well and fit together exactly and consistently; therefore, the sound turns out perfectly every time. He said this will help big factory tremendously. Having machine made parts doesn't mean the guitar have less value. He said, it is opposite. He said you can feel assure that your new guitar will sound as good as the one you try in the guitar store. Because of this reason. Yet, the guitar still need a skill hand from luthier to put them together.

He agreed that the sound might not be the same as the older Guild, but that is the decision Guild made. They can make adjustment to the entire design so it sound like the old guild, but this is the sound they wanted and they can reproduce exact every time. I like their new sound as well as my old guild and can't wait for mine to come.

Re: looking for F512

Well, I just bought a new NH F512. I blame Son Le, of course, and doubtless my wife's lawyers will track him down. The big price increase coming Oct 1 convinced me to do it. I figure guys will be asking more for used instruments, so I may as well bite the bullet and see what a new guitar sounds and feels like. Now I've gotta rob a bank, or sell my G312. Fearing the prison showers, I'm getting ready to sell. Keep your eyes on the FS section! Charlie
