And my favorite cover of Kris Kristofferson's "Me and Bobbi McGee" is by Willie Nelson.

When you're in youtube, they have a "Share" option under the video which links to the vid. DON'T USE THAT ONE!! Go to the task bar at the top of the browser and copy what's in the address bar.

Aarrgghh, that explains it. I'm linking from within the YT app on my iPad rather than via browser. :disillusionment:

Someone posted this here a few months ago and I loved it. A bluegrass rendition of Elton John's "Rocket Man"

Cold as ice?? Is hell a four-letter word in bluegrass? :) Scott, that is some kick-*** BG!!! Those guys are great!

I love this thread!!!!! What a diverse bunch of folks we have here on LTG!

Since we've been speaking of her lately, here's one I'd like to share. The story goes that Joni Mitchell was at her place up in Canada, and had purchased a Sons of the Pioneers record. She was having a lovely day and then "My Best To You" came on. She stated that she started getting a huge lump in her throat and ... she didn't want that. So she went outside, far enough away that she could hear the music, but not the words as much. So she felt it worthy to include on her Taming the Tiger album. I have to admit, I get a lump in my throat when I hear it as well. Just a sweet and lovely song. I'll throw the lyrics in as well.....

My Best To You

by Isham Jones and Gene Willaden

So here's to you
May your dreams come true
May old father time
Never be unkind
And through the years
Save your smiles and your tears
They're just souvenirs
They'll make music in your heart
Remember this
Each new day is a kiss
Sent from up above
With an angel's love
So here's to you
May your skies be blue
And your love blessed
That's my best to you

Remember this
Each new day is a kiss
Sent from up above
With an angel's love
So here's to you
May your skies be blue
And your love blessed
That's my best to you

Santana's cover of the Fleetwood Mac tune " Black magic woman " , is the version of the song most people think of, so I guess it's a pretty good cover.

I really like this version of the Fleetwood Mac song, " World Turning " , by Monte Montgomery.

I always liked Joe Cocker's covers, especially his Beatles stuff.

Since no-one yet has mentioned the obvious:

Hendrix: Bob, this is my song now.

Dylan: [Nods] Yep…

Speaking of Dylan, I once saw the Grateful Dead do a version of Knocking on Heaven's Door in 100+ degree heat at the old RFK Stadium in DC. Dylan and Tom Petty opened.

Jerry Garcia went into a diabetic coma shortly thereafter.

One of my favorite albums was Gordon Lightfoot's first: Lightfoot! He did three great covers on it:

Ewan McCall's The First Time

and my favorite, Hamilton Camp's Pride of Man

I think his only subsequent covers in all of his albums were Me and Bobby McGee and The Auctioneer.

We saw Andy McKee in April at the Ram's Head in Annapolis. I was gobsmacked in much the same way I was when we saw Tommy Emmanuel in the same small venue: If you play (even poorly as I do), you have some idea of what they're pulling off.

This is his cover of Everybody Rules Wants To Rule The World:

And speaking of covers of that song, we saw Love Cannon in the same place in March of '15. They covered it as well:
