My 2021 Oxnard M-40 has the pyramid brace, too.

Interesting . Tnx for sharing @chazmo. In both they're scalloped but looks like they used different shaving pattern for Oxnard vs Tacoma . Also Tacoma feels a bit beefier. Do you know if it Adi in yours ? (btw , I re-uploaded the img's of my bracing in original post)

I'm not certain at all whether the braces in my Tacoma F-512 were red (Adi) spruce or not. I should know that, but I don't! I am certain that New Hartford used red spruce braces though. And, speaking of New Hartford....

This will probably not help at all with the comparisons of F-512 bracing through the modern years, but here's a look at the bracing of a 2010 F-212XL Standard. Radically different than the F-512! Note, especially, the use of 2 rather than 3 braces below the bridge. I thought all Guild's 12-strings had 3 braces across the belly. Anyway, I'm only putting it here to show how much things (may) have changed!!!!

Oh, my, Yura. Radically different bracing going on in your Oxnard vs. my Tacoma F-512. Different shaping, different "peaking," different scalloping, and only two belly braces in yours... I'm kind of shocked.

When I saw the title of this thread, I assumed that they were starting to build guitars in their underwear outside in the cold weather, which would be a new and very bracing technique.

Can someone get a good picture of the new brace that started this discussion (I've been calling it a pyramid, but I suspect it's just peaked like the ones on the treble part of the soundboard...

Well, we know where Ren worked before coming to Guild, and that little pyramid brace has been seen on Gibson jumbos for a long time. This is my 2000 J-100xt w/strings & saddle off for a bit of tweaking:

Pictures from the Oxnard factory in December 2019:

F-55, F-512: Note that there is no such "wing brace" on the bass side!
(disregard the screw, that is only to screw that top on the wall!)

D-55: Note that there is no such "wing brace" on the bass side!

D-20: 3 wing braces

And this is a picture from 2016 already, showing a D-20 with the 3 wing braces:

Ralf, awesome!!! Well that makes it clear what we're seeing! OK, forget "pyramid"... "Wing brace" is the (much better) description the shop is using for these shaped braces, so be it! Looks like Ren started Oxnard using these wing braces all over the place.

Wow. I'm amazed.

My F-40 Traditional has the 3 wing braces. My F-512 Maple only has 2 wing braces, but it also has the LR Baggs pickup system and the sound hole controls take up a lot of space and would hit a wing brace. That could be why the bass side brace is flat.

@SFIV1967 @Yura This has been really eye-opening and fascinating!!!

I really want to know when the F-512 started getting built with two belly braces rather than three. I don't remember ever discussing that, but to my mind that's a huge, huge deal. @SFIV1967 do you know if the F-55 and F-512 in Oxnard are using the same top bracing?

I don't know how significant the change in shape of the brace(s) or even the use of this "wing" shape actually is. Looking at the wing braces, I can see how they'd likely be very strong as most of the mass remains at the peak in the middle rather than the sides or the brace... But, all that said, what's been proven to my ears (by Martin over the years) is that the placement and orientation of the braces is the key thing for how the instrument sounds. That's what makes the F-512 belly brace question so relevant to me.

Anyway, great stufff!!!!!!!!!
