Hmm, if Vadim will be jealous...It don't think it would be a M-75, because Vadim has one already.
It should be something with HB1s inside. Well, or a Gold hardware M-75GS...unlikely again.
And solid or chambered...
And it should be from just before 1979 (because it sounds like Hans might correct the date, as DasBeef is not 100% sure about the date of the guitar he bought?).
S-60D or S-70D had no HB1s...So wouldn't make vadim jealous.
So yes, could be a single HB1 pickup S-50 or S-60 or a dual HB1 S-90.
So S-90 is my guess in that case.
There's not much more I could think off from end 70ties.

Maybe it's 70s M-80 we're omitting here :?:
Could be, but we talked a lot about M-80 recently, and he said something that is not talked about a lot...Sure, it's relatively less talked about.

A S-90, eh? Cool. Now ... "Is it there yet? Is it there yet? Is it there yet?

How much will the imaginary postage to Russia be for RG's "invisible chocolate medal in an invisible envelope?"

A damn fortune, that's what!

Should be here tomorrow. I'm working nights so I hope the courier knocks hard enough to wake me up. I'm really excited!

Of course! I've been checking the tracking with the courier every 10 minutes or something.....
I hope it comes when I'm in, and I wake up. I have to head out in the afternoon. Going to meet my dad to go see Ryan Adams in Glasgow.

Congrats on your new S-90 :) I've never noticed that the neck is actually shorter on S-90. Is it a shorter scale?

Does it allow me into the S-100 club again or is it 10 too short?

Dane (danerectal) has got to open a S-90s club - he's a big advocate of them

Congratulations to the S-90 also from me!
Vadim: Interesting question, I also had to look twice to see that the bodies seem to sit at the same hight on the picture.
Maybe Hans can clarify the neck length question, I can't remember that his book said anything about a different neck between S-100 and S-90.

Funny that "hagmeat" & "DasBeef" both have s-90s. Must be a common love of meaty tones...OK, sorry about that...

I've had the pleasure of playing hagmeat's S-90 & it was the Axe that sold me on Guild solid-bodies & HB-1s. I wonder if that funky tailpiece has an affect too - a solid piece of metal with no moving parts. Still I'm sure yours sounds great as well Beef - can't go wrong with a solid hunk of mahogany & those fabulous pickups.

 I can`t speak for DasBeef, but I do like a meaty sound, probably because as a bassplayer, my ears have grown more accustomed to hearing the lower end of the sound spectrum. One thing we both have in common is an interest in effects pedals, although DasBeef has a few more than me. I do think the bridge/tailpiece block(made from brass I think) certainly gives it more sustain with the sound being a bit brighter than my S-100.

Cheers guys. I'm loving this guitar.

Hagmeat - Your tail piece is much different from mine. Is that standard?

Also, Hagmeats has Guild knobs, mine doesn't. A few snaps I have looked through on Google some have, some haven't got the Guild knobs. Have mine been replaced?

A bunch of S-90s I've seen from pre-75 period have knobs just like yours does - with Volume & Tone so I think yours has the stock knobs.

One '76 though at Vintage Rare Guitars in Australia (for a ridiculous price of $1750 AUD, by the way a couple months ago it was trying to sell for $3750 AUD) has knobs that have simply V & T written on them.
