Welcome to LTG, Todd. And, congrats on your new P-250... Do you have a picture of the pau ferro back of it? The earlier pictures we saw looked quite eye-popping.
Hey chazmo

The pics up in the thread are pretty spot on. You can tell the back and sides are laminated simply from looking into the sound hole.

I’ve never seen a neck built in three pieces tho.

Hey @todddengler ... I'm not sure what the neck is made of, but that doesn't look like a three piece neck. To me it looks like one piece. What I think we're seeing here it that with this wood, when you cut at an angle from the grain like at the headstock and the heel, those are ends of the grain that are being cut through and it looks like a seam even though it isn't.

I may be wrong, of course... Do you know what wood this neck is made from?

In Todd's last picture, it does look to me as though there is a joint between the neck heel and the rest of the neck, which is consistent with other Westerly Collection guitars I've seen. I'm not really seeing a joint at the headstock, though (which I think wouldn't be consistent with other Westerly Collection models, or at least not the ones I own) - I agree that that's likely a change in the angle of the grain.

Ah, OK. I think I see what you're talking about, guys. I must admit I'm not too sure of myself... Part of me sees a seam there, part of me sees grain that's consistent with one piece. I do think it would make a lot of sense to have a separate piece of wood joined at that point on the heel to conserve wood.

While I am not a huge fan of any of the new Guild MIC acoustics, I am intrigued by the new vibrato surfliners..
The green one especially..

I Just ordered the Guild 250 on sale...waiting on delivery. My reason for purchase is I'm traveling over seas and I don't want to risk taking my much loved expensive Gibby L00. I know this new guild isn't the same but at least I won't have to worry as much if it gets lost or damaged. Looking forward to hear and see how this 250 really is. Im sure it will need some adjustments.
I own a Guild D120ce. Heavy in weight, Put some grover tuners on it. Its always had a slight intonation problem on the higher frets. Ive tried everything to try and fix it but it is what it is....overall it's a good sounding acoustic for sitting around at home.

It is hard to believe, but strictly speaking numbers, under $300 guitars are like maybe 75% of guitar sales. Of course cheaper imports are going to be introduced. I've just segmented my brain to ignore most guitars. There is certainly a place for the under $1000 guitar, but it isn't a market that I spend time on. I can't remember even the last time I played one. Yes I spent a lifetime working up to the guitars that interest me, and I think I've reached my ceiling, and these days $5k isn't that much. Just look at what a new D 28 Aged Authentic is going for.

My interpretation too.

The new P-250E Memoir in VSB (Vintage Sunburst) is based on the P-240 Memoir.
The P-250E Memoir is a small-bodied parlor guitar built with a solid spruce top and pau ferro back and sides (vs. mahogany on the P-240).
Modified with a 14 fret-to-body neck like the DS-240 (vs. 12 frets on the P-240) the P-250E offers a brighter tone, with more attack as well as better access to upper frets.
A vintage-inspired mother of pearl rosette and Guild Script Logo pay homage to the classic styling of instruments from the 1920s, while a Guild Fishman-designed GT-1 pickup system (vs. no pickup in the P-240) delivers stage-ready performance.

Street price $699.99. (vs. $529.00 for the P-240)

Already in stock in various shops:

And here is a deal for $450, in outstanding looking wood, but has some small damage on the front lower bout:

I'm supposed to be taking in a new to me (or as in used) M-20 at some point later in the week. Or that is when I'd imagine it is expected to be. What I am most curious about, is if I can just navigate, or make my way around that neck, and its profile - as it's been described to me, by a dealer from some time ago, as being rather "substantial." Although I've had less trouble with some other maker's 1 3/4 " nut width. Ever since owning my Bourgeois Vintage D. (which was 1 23/32 " - I believe?) / but like, I never used to be able to make my way around those Martin modified V necks, with that wider nut width & then (uncomfortable, for me, anyway) shape or neck profile. I can live with pretty much everything else, though, I think - or I hope! :)

Boy that's tasty! My kind of electric guitar: 2 knobs and a switch and 3 pickups. It's a very versatile combination that's simple to operate on the fly.
I wouldn't use the trem much, but the pink one in the middle really looks great.. cool color combination for sure.

Mike, those are the Surfliner "Deluxe" models. They've been out for a few months now. They are tasty. @GGJaguar did a pickup transplant on one of his, and I think he said he really liked it.

Pao ferro is a good tone wood.
Roy Noble, a custom maker who's since passed on, used it extensively for his Concert guitars. The body on them was a replica of a spanish classical guitar w/ X braces and a 14-fret neck. The pao ferro gave them a tone that was crisper and more direct than rosewood, but had rosewood's depth and complexity.
Roy made the model w/ mahogany or rosewood, but I always enjoyed the pao ferro's tone the most. I think he may have been one of the first to use it regularly for his guitars. Roy was one of the first custom makers in L.A.; he started in the mid-60s. He passed on about 10 years ago.

Picked it up today. Took 11 days for Musicians friend to finally send it. Apparently it's the last one.
The set up was pretty terrible, I sanded 2mm off the bone saddle with room to spare. The fret ends could use some smoothing out. Polished the frets and cleaned the fret board. Put new strings on it. The tuners are questionable, might need to find a set of Grovers to fit.
Glad I got it on the clearance price cause I don't think it's worth the full price.
Doesn't have the bottom end or volume of my Gibson L00 but compared to the Gibson nothing will sound as good. The neck is a little fatter.
It has the same crappy Fishman pickup as my Guild D120ce, which I replaced with a LR Baggs Anthem. I might be putting an LR Baggs in the P250 as well.
Overall, I won't be worried as much with this in the airplane cargo hold when traveling but I will definitely be missing the Gibson L00.
If anyone knows of Bridge Pins that will fit, the info would be appreciated. It came with plastic bridge pins.

Hutdog are you ToddEngler?? We can rename user accounts here if you want to do that, although perhaps now it's too late.

Well, the Memoir certainly looks nice, Hutdog, and the shapes are remarkably similar to the Gibson. I'm sure an Anthem system will go a long way if you do intend to play plugged in.

Congrats, and thanks for the photos.
