What does GSR stand for?M
Well, if any of you ever have such a question in future, look here:
viewtopic.php?f=1&t=26266
(Chazmo created those great "Forum-related Lingo FAQ")
As far as I read, a special GSR series of guitars originally was made for the "Guild Summit Retreat", a Guild dealer meeting at the beginning of the New Hartford factory time.
But the correct meaning in Guild language is "
Guild Special Run", as written on the
Guild webpage (see my link below).
Usually so far it is a 20 pieces limited run, but there are examples where less were made (The
Macassar Ebony GSR F-40 guitar was planned as only 10 pieces but at the end only 2 pieces were ever made (as I understood, the remaining Macassar wood they got was not good enough to build more than those 2 GSR guitars), and the GSR Starfire VI only was made/sold 18 times as the label shows "x of 18").
To see all current available GSR's you go to the Guild webpage
http://www.guildguitars.com/instruments and select "GSR series" on the left hand lower side.
That would bring you to that page:
http://www.guildguitars.com/instruments ... GSR+Series
It shows you all 8 currently available GSR versions. (It does not show the
Macassar Ebony GSR F-40).
I believe all of them are still available from some shops, a Google search shows where.
