My 2012 F-47R arrived in good shape. The sunburst is beautiful, and the guitar sounds great so far. There is some lacquer damage on the back which I think I can fix, but not a high priority. It's borderline needing a neck reset which I'm OK with given the sale price. It's weird that the truss rod won't straighten the neck to where I like it, < 0.008". It's about as tight as I dare make it. I had the same problem with my other F-47R. Weights about 5lbs, but the jack and electronics are probably 1/4lb.

I'm planning to remove the electronics, and make a new saddle, but I'll be out of town for a few days, so it will have to wait.

TRC orientation has been corrected, if anybody is worried :)

Congrats schoolie! That’s a looker. Love the burst and the mop block fret markers. F47’s are such a great size. Very comfortable. Good luck with the adjustments.

Beautiful Guitar! The Rosewood back has gorgeous grain and I like the white binding on the body that continues on the neck. Really sets the boundry of the dark part of the burst. Good luck with your great find.

I just measured the bridge thickness at 0.452". Is that unusually tall? My other F-47 has a bridge that is 0.368". Even my F40T has a 0.36" bridge...Maybe I can shave this bridge and avoid the neck reset. That would save me $500!

Congratulations, schoolie! I have one of these--a 2012 F47R, which I purchased from Guild through Union Music at LMG IV in 2013--and I adore it. I'm afraid I can't answer your question about the bridge height, as I can no longer see well enough to measure mine, but I hope you're able to resolve the issue without a neck reset.

A beautiful guitar and now you have the choice between natural and sunburst. Congrats! The need for a neck re-set is a bit of surprise for a guitar made in 2012, but then, my 2010 Martin Custom Shop D-18 12-fret needed a neck reset a year after I bought it so you never know.

Possibly. I believe according to Frets.com the ideal combined height of the bridge and saddle should be 0.50 inches. It also depends on how tall the bridge “wings” are to determine if you should sand from the bottom vs the top.

Gorgeous pair! I know some frown heavily on shaving a bridge, but I've done it on occasion when the overall height of the bridge was a bit monstrous & clearly allowed for a no-harm no-foul situation. As for the truss rod adjustment, check to see if your adjusting nut might possibly be bottoming out on the threads. If so, remove the nut & add a few appropriately sized washers to essentially bring the nut back to where it is again able to maintain full contact with the threaded portion of the rod. Hope you get it perfectly dialed in!
