Argh. While doing some home recording with my F47R yesterday, I accidentally banged it against ta coffee table, denting the binding at one spot. So it's not pristine anymore. Does this count as honest wear?

Gorgeous pair! I know some frown heavily on shaving a bridge, but I've done it on occasion when the overall height of the bridge was a bit monstrous & clearly allowed for a no-harm no-foul situation. As for the truss rod adjustment, check to see if your adjusting nut might possibly be bottoming out on the threads. If so, remove the nut & add a few appropriately sized washers to essentially bring the nut back to where it is again able to maintain full contact with the threaded portion of the rod. Hope you get it perfectly dialed in!
Thanks! About the truss rod, don't these guitars have a double action truss rod? I thought these were sealed and the nuts couldn't be removed. IT would be great if there were some way to solve this.

That's called an identifying mark :)

Wow gorgeous pair schoolie
jeffcoop
you be amazed at what some techs can do to mask the dent or make it a subtle mark rather than a noticable scar.
I haven't seen it but keep your eye out for a bit of lifting finish at binidng. Either way better at the binding than in the top.

Yes, Jeff!!!!! At least you can tell yourself that. :) :)

Seriously, don't beat yourself up too much. Many of us have done plenty worse.

Hmm - I'm not familiar with the truss rod setup on instruments that came out of NH. Just wanted to mention the bottomed-out nut as a possibility since it's an easy thing to check. Hope you find a fix!

Were you in an Ambien-induced sleepwalking fog and playing guitar?
Yeah. After being discharged from the hospital I was sleepwalking and although I kind of remember falling, I don't remember anything else. I got put back down multiple times but that's when I cracked the soundboard of the D65S. It had to go to Florida to get repaired. Can hardly tell now but.... needless to say I gave the Ambien away. For some reason when I'm in that state guitars are too much for me to resist.

I had a similar experience with a guitar, and was so angry with myself for my carelessness. After a while you forget it's even there.

My new F-47 is in for bridge surgery, taking it down to 3/8" which is pretty standard, and will expose enough saddle for good action.

@schoolie , congrats on the new F47. Like @jeffcoop (whom I suspect got "mine" :D), my F47 was also banged, but at Kaufman Guitar Kamp at about three months old! Juicer in front of me spins his Epiphone-something backwards while getting up from his seat...never even got as much as a "sorry" just "Oh!" Wanted to KILL him, class looks at me afraid I'll punch him out! All that said, I cannot even find that mark today, so thats what New England Humidity does for you...Oregon has to be the same???

Mine does not have any added electronics, however under the bridge saddle I have two "slices" of what looks like masonite taking up space for an undersaddle p/u. I got a new bridge blank from Guild before they closed, but to be honest the guitar is so loud I don't think there is any "decoupling between the bridge saddle and the top! I bring this up, as perhaps yours also has the two shims, and maybe removing one will get the string height where you want it?

The twelve strings built at New Hartford had two truss rods plus a carbon fiber rod, but not the six strings, at least my D55 and F47 do not.

Again, congrats on what might be the best Guild ;)

...don't think they used a prohibited Rosewood, but then none of us have documentation, LOL...maybe if maple you'd be all set!

Your F40 would probably be fine, just don't bring a Rivera amp!

Bill, you're right about taking the F-40 along as being fine. Though I'd like to play it a bit longer down here on earth! As for the Rivera amp, it weighs in around 45 lbs. That's below the 50 lb. airline limit, so, maybe...

Just to tie this up, I got this F-47R back. They shaved the bridge down to 3/8" and there is plenty of exposed saddle and good action. Electronics are out and they set it up for medium strings. It sounds and looks quite amazing! The sound is so rich and loud. If I'd bought this one first, I would have saved a *lot* of money ;) Well, still honeymoon phase, I guess.
