Bernie, do you have air conditioning in your home? That usually takes the humidity out of the air, as does radiator-based heat. In summers here (very humid) I run my A/C in parts of my house and also run dehumidifiers in my basement, but I don't keep my guitars near the A/C. Winter here requires adding water via a humidifier as well as RH gets below 30% often. (...)
No air condotionning (just a small 2 rooms flat with tiny kitchen on top of it), pretty basic. The thing is that turning a heater on raises humidity these days instead of lowering it down (as I would have more or less expected). Temperature's like 65°F to 70°F right now.

Good luck, and stop worrying. :) Just don't let your guitars dry out; that's a lesson you can learn from me.

In summer time, humidity rate sometimes gets under 40%, but washing a few things and hanging them afterwards usually brings it back in the safer zone (the temperature may raise up - exceptionally - to about 106°F). I've been watching carefully...
Last 10 days or so I've had more time above 60% than time in the 45-55% zone. I leave most guitars in HSC (those that have one).
I don't really worry, but try to be as careful as possible (first time I have 2 hygrometers that I watch very regularly ! :giggle: - last 6 months or so -)
