Haven't seen that many photos made during the occasion, but it seems to me that in this photo the guitar has a natural top ....

.... and it looks like it has dot inlays, so that would make it a D-40 or a D-50.

Sincerely,

"Smothered, The censorship struggles of the Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour." A great one to watch for the behind the scenes story, and show just how much these guys got up CBS's nose. :D
Shows how they stood up for Pete Seager too! His singing of the metaphoric, "Waist deep in the Big muddy, and the Big Fool says to push on" :D Gotta love it! What a time in history.
Thanks for the link John, just watched it while plucking away at my X50. Enjoyed it a lot. A real eye opener in some ways & and an interesting window into the times.

I grew up on a diet of LPs by The Smothers Brothers, Bill Cosby, Shelley Berman, Bob Newhart, Mort Sahl, George Carlin, Lenny Bruce, etc.

Remember when comedy albums was one of the chief ways to hear a comedian's routines?

 I played my guitar as I watched it too! That doco sure exposed a lot of facts and issues I had no idea about though ( more great skits too!) . I was quite suprised to find out that Tommy was the driving force behind things there, and how politically and socially aware he and the gang were. Now, with that info in mind, It comes as no suprise that he was at the Lennon bed-in. Perfect place for him to be. 8)
Yes Chris, I remember those albums well. We loved them! Especially George Carlin. My friends and I would memorise some of those routines and play them out at school.
My folks had some Red Fox albums that were quite....'adult' in humour ( Nothing at all, on todays scale of things). I'd smuggle those over to friends houses from time to time. Those albums would make Flip Wilson blush!

I wore out a number of Bill Cosby, Smothers Brothers & George Carlin albums - then onto Firesign Theater and Cheech & Chong as I got older. You might catch a few of the acts on Johnny Carson late at night or on Ed Sullivan - how about Senor Wenses? "Right"
Comedians have become like TV channels, there's too many of them and few worth watching.

Aint that the truth  Those comedians listed above had acts that could be listened to repeatedly, each time getting a new aspect or nuance of the joke and the message....Those guys has great 'timing', and certaily got many a mind thinking, as well as laughing.
* Bill Cosby, Yes. How did I forget him! Thats the other one we used to enjoy listening to a lot.

All while co-starring in "I Spy" at the same time. A genuinely groundbreaking role for the era.
Don't forget "Silver Throat". It's even got Jimi Hendrix in a guest shot.

The woman next to shirtless Timothy Leary does not seem very happy...
I wouldn't be happy next to him either.

It's astonishing how funny Cosby was. I saw him live several times, and I'd hurt so much from laughing that I wanted him to stop.
