Speaking of which, I was reminded of "Turtle Blues" on Cheap Thrills this weekend.
Those guys didn't get enough respect, but that whole album was influential as h--l on me...that might be the one that made me think "Hey...you can do some neat leads on an acoustic..." :D

Since all of this is subjective, and every member here would have their own list, IMHO, any list that doesn't include almost anything by this guy, is heresy:

As I said, my opinion, feel free to disagree... then seek counseling.

I'm with you on this one rws!

None of those would be on my list. My favorite acoustic guitar solos:

Tony Rice on Dawg's Bull from David Grisman's Hot Dawg.
Ry Cooder on Fool for a Cigarette from Paradise and Lunch.
Jim Hurst Wildcatter/Nine Pound Hammer medley from Box of Chocolates.
James Nash on Bright Place from the Waybacks' Way Live.
Norman Blake - Old Brown Case from Fields of November.

Thanks for the introduction to the above...

That Norman Blake piece is remarkable. Can't believe I've not heard more of his stuff.
