Now I'm in a quandry with my all mahogany flat back, and this baby with the spruce top, an they both sound great but, keep them bott? the jury is out on that. I'm trying to lighten up here...Guilds don't make it easy, 5 of them now. ah well...Steffan
The Prophet said you can have as many wives as you want but if you want more than 3 you must be crazy. But wait that's not at issue here is it?
You may notice from my sig that after MY 3rd I was blessed with sudden enlightenment as to the wisdom of the prophets's advice. They are, after all, quite a handful, just to keep properly excercised!

Congratulations Steffan! don't know what to make of the no-name tuners but if not original, the holes look like they match up pretty good ... well-done!

I'd say those are original tuners... they look like the same (Japanese) tuners that are on my '74 G-37, and I have seen them on D-40s from the mid-70s as well. But, they may be factory upgrades... earlier D-35s (like my '72) had the three-on-a-plate tuners. But, I don't know how long that continued... They may not be the best, but they are a lot better than the three-on-a-plates on my D-35 and D-25.

Nice snag, Steffen! Enjoy!

My G37 has the same tuners.

If you have trouble tuning a 12 string..forget about a sitar...they are fun, but have to be in tune, and there are a lot of strings. Steffan :?

I have no trouble tuning my 12er:
• My Boss Tuner does a good job, and
• hey, it's a Guild: it stays in tune (at least as far as I hear it …)

My D25 holds tuning pretty good, too. Amazes me.
I read once that's s'posed to be an indicator of a really well built instrument. Mine does too, even over 2 or 3 weeks in the case, that's the longest it'll usually go without getting excercised. The other two are almost as good, but they will drift a wee bit over a week.

Will you still have it when we get together for our 2nd annual rainy day? You'll like it because they're very....likable guitars.

Enjoy,
Joe

And will you still have it early July - assuming the Icelandic volcano isn't still closing down the entire UK airspace so I can actually get out of the country :!:

First they steal our cod (Cod War, 1970s), then their dodgy banks steal our money (Financial crisis 2008/9) and now they close down our airspace with a volcano

Didn't know about those first two issues! Viking resurgence perhaps? Attempting to reclaim former abodes?

I believe I have heard him referred to as a horny devil. Come to think of it, I'd look pretty good in that thing. :)
