I find your preference for neck joint position fascinating, mostly because I've even noticed where my necks join.

What is it about the difference that makes you prefer the 18-fret option?

it is just easier for me to sound better, somehow. I am far from an expert or professional guitar player. I need to use the entire fretboard to sound good. It comes pretty naturally on 16 fretters, but 18 fretters just seem "easier" somehow, to sound good, playing the way I play.

I keep buying 14 fret electric guilds, because they sound so amazing. I just don't like playing them that much after long though, and keep selling them. 97 SF-2, 58 CE-100-D, 77 CE-100-D, 64 T-100 D...all those maple archtops sound glorious mounted at the 14th...they just were not my style.

and my acoustics are 14 ers, obviously. I still
enjoy acoustic but have really been more of an electric guy. My first acoustic Guild sounded and played so great, I went on a little bit of a spree. But i'm (slowly) selling off the vast majority of my acoustics

Cool - thanks for the explanation!

You might be surprised. I bet that S300 is at least 2-piece. Look carefully at the grain lines under the smaller horn.
Hi Gary, When I get a chance, I'll get the S-300 out of storage and take a look. Memory has it that when you look at the end grain on the bottom of that guitar, it is one solid slab. But since my memory is not necessarily one solid slab anymore, :) I'll take a look again.

That's a rare one !!! I see it has the XR-7 pickups. Thanks for the post.

Maybe even one of a kind. :)

For me it's this one because it's the only one I got, but it's looking for a home because Guild acoustics are the cat's meow. More playing, no tone chasing.

The burst from Guild at this time is unmatched by anyone IMO, and the contouring is quite fabulous, and the light weight.

Didn’t someone here have one up for sale in the last year or was that you?
That burst is incredible.

I restrung that S-50 last night just about bedtime, an easy one with the Tremar, with 11-50 SIT strings with a wound 3rd, and wow, wow, wow, she's a rhythm machine, rings like a bell.

That's another way to make a guitar sell, fall in love with it.

These decisions can be tough.
I had a '61 re-issue SG and a Blue Flower Strat, both for years.
I decided to test run both of them and whichever one sounded and felt best I would keep.
The Strat won by a mile.
I am a bassist. Had I been a guitarist, I guess it would have been a tougher choice.
I could see not wanting to let either go.
