I could be pi$$in' in the wind here... and maybe my bifocaled eyes are playing tricks....but ...

1) I have never seen a steel string Guild guitar without either the..
Guild Chevron solo for top nomanclature
Guild Chevron + Guild Shield
Guild Chevron + Guild Chesterfield

2) Take a close look at the wood cut. The prominent hump, the center hump, is not symmetrical.
The left and right secondary hump is shaped differently.
The distance from machine tuner to top of head seems exaggerated (too far)
The left and right sides of the headstock itself does not have the signature Guild curve for a 6 string dreadnaught body. I believe all the 6 string dreadnaught headstocks are curved and the 12 stringers are straight up and down.

3) The closest I have seen with the "G" emblem is the F40 Valencia, Cocobolo and the F30 Aragon small body series. And even those bear the Guild Chevron.

The seller claims it is a 1976 D35 ...

Here's another ..

.... on the other hand I may be full of Milwaukee's finest! :)

But I'm voting for a re-neck.

Chap

PS .. I have even emailed the seller asking for additional photos ( to make me eat crow ) ...I will report if I get a reply.

Who trims the internal bracing of a guitar AFTER it is built?!
More folks than you know! Including a previous owner of my D-50... the braces of which (the D-50, not the owner) were "shaved" after it left the factory.

Actually, post-factory shaving or scalloping of braces is talked of fairly frequently by folks over on the UMGF trying to tease the ultmate tone and volume from their Martins (NOT vintage, fortunately)...
