I'm Waiting For The Man originally by Lou Reed

or...this fresh cover by Keef!!! Came out just 8 days ago!! I love it!(y)

(I'm weird in the fact I love Keith's voice. Some of my fav Stones tunes are ones he sings lead on. I'm on team Keef on this one)

Well, I'd previously posted Jason Isbell and Morgan Wallen's rendition of "Cover Me Up", and about 2 hours ago, this young man posted this. I might like it best of all. Nick Thompson is from about 15 miles down the road in White Oak. He's the friend of a friend of my youngest son.

I'm liking Keith's version a lot. Never been a big Lou fan...

I posted it earlier - love it!

On "My Maria" it's really close for me. Almost a tie, but I kind of prefer the Brooks & Dunn one. But both are awesome. I always really liked that song!!

It is close to me as well Tom. There are no voices out there like Ronnie Dunn. But Buckwheat had a pretty distinctive voice himself, and I've always loved it..

Oh if I could sing like Ronnie Dunn......just once.

Of course this is an iconic song, not a truly serious comparison. However, I think the cover is brilliant and it is on my playlist while the original is not.

I totally get it. 👍🏻 Sometimes a little tongue and cheek music is just what the Dr orders. (Btw, one of my fav go to's (especially w/ friends around a fire pit.) On https://somafm.com/ check out the channel "Illinois Street Lounge". I put it on and just let it ride. Great stuff.

Springsteen, but this version...

Nebraska was a regular rotation in my Jeep Wrangler summer 87 & 88 (Greetings from Asbury Park and Bowie's Ziggy Stardust were 2 other regulars that helped the 2 hour drive). I'd work Friday's until 5-6, grab a bite to eat, sometimes play... sometimes hang with friends a bit, then head to the folk's place in Sussex County (I was still living with them) and grab a weekend bag. The old man drove straight from work, Mom would head home from work and grab the kid sister & the family Dalmatian. We had a Summer place on the lagoon in Beach Haven West (main land side of LBI) with a 25 ft SeaRay in the back yard. I would generally wait until 10-11pm before making the drive... that IS the version of the song I'd blast on my Blaupunkt tape deck through Jensen 6x9 in boxes and 6.5 JVC in the doors.

Not this one?

LOVE the Band, Levon's voice is awesome, Jim Weider is a favorite guitarist, his tone on his fusiony stuff in the recent past is amazing. But the just doesn't feel right to me... too fast, too upbeat, missing the underlying despair.

I'm a long time fan of Ben Harper... and this just hits the feels for me. Goose is my current listening obsession and brought the song back into my attention.

Bruce wrote it and knows how it should feel... "this is a song, about running short on choices"

Wes...my good friend...this kid is wearing a ventilated baseball hat backwards, over his ears, but we are supposed to take him seriously? Sorry, but...

I am obviously NOT his targeted audience.

Good voice, reasonable player...
