Hi, does anyone know of a good place to get my D15M re-finished in the northeast? I'm in Connecticut and will be finishing the re-topping project on my D15M soon.

I can do wood work but my finishing skills leave much to be desired!

I've used Paul Neri, 146 Ironworks Rd. Clinton, CT, 860-669-3351. Very good work. Thre's also George Youngblood at Acoustic Music in Guilford, theyre on route 1, but I don't have the address or phone number at work. You can't go wrong with either one.

I'll wholeheartedly second both suggestions. Both men have served very me well in the past. Paul just reglued the bridge on my F44 and I'm quite pleased with his work.

Acousticmusic.org is the website for George.

Also, depending where you are, James DeCava in Stratford is a builder who also does repairs and refinishing. http://decava.com/repairs.htm
I have no idea how his prices compair to George or Paul.

Pat DiBurro is often mentioned as a factory referral for Taylor and others. I think he's either NH or VT. You could probably do a search for him on google or go over to the AGF and check there.

Send it to Guild!

Ya know what, the Fender/Guild plant is here in New Hartford CT. I wonder if they would do re-finish on it. Hey, maybe they'll give me a job! I work in the publishing business which is circling the bowl as I type this.

Hmmmmmmm.

I bought a guitar from Acoustic Music. Real nice shop but, you'll grow a beard waiting for George to get anything done.

I'll try Paul Neri.

Thanks guys!

That's probably true about George. Feel free to tell Paul that Chris Bousquet/Buskey sent you.

FYI, Guild's factory repairs have been done, to-date, in Nashville. However, that is an excellent point about the New Hartford facility. If no one gets an answer on this before April, we should ask the factory about any plans to do custom / fix-up work in New Hartford during our tour.

Yes, George is not the fastest worker. You can use my name with Paul as well.

Thanks guys, Paul said he's not doing anything like whole guitars, just touch-ups and such. He referred me to someone else who got a little weird about "getting in the middle of this project" like I'm a hack builder and would be handing off some nightmare of a job to him. LOL! I understand his position because I've been through a few of those myself.

Maybe I'll just put a light coat of shellac on it to protect it until spring. Most people up this way don't like to spray during the winter it seems.

ding ding ding! We have a winner.

Jamie at Hot Strings in Milford said he can do it! Thanks Brad.

Hey, I noticed you're in Hamden. That's where I'm doing this project. Small world!

Cool thread (as is the other one with Telenator's progress)!

I'll be moving to the Stamford area full time within the first half of next year, currently living in Ridgefield part time... so it's always good to know of good techs in the area. Stopped in Route 7 Music in the Bethel area about a year ago & they had several new Guilds... seemed like a nice/helpful staff too.

Fungie, you coming to Let's Meet Guild 2010?

Seems like a very good bet, Chazmo. Provided we're all moved by then (we better be!), it should be easy for me to make it. :)
