Thanks. I have the next two weeks off and I'm going to try and finish this up before January 4th.

Yesterday I shaped the neck closer to what I like and have decided to go with a soft V profile. I like the depth of a soft V and the ease of reaching around it afforded by the flatter sides.

I also spent some time getting the neck mating surface on the guitar body perfecty flat and testing the neck angle. It's pretty close to being where it needs to be. I have to tilt it back slightly and it will be perfect.

Once the parts are aligned I'll glue it all together and string it up.

Then I'll do the final shaping on the neck.

Then the strings come off and it goes out for finishing.

If it looks good enough when it's done perhaps I'll bring to New Hartford and see if they'll give me a job! LOL!

If you ask the question you have a minimum 50% chance of getting the answer you want. If you DON'T ask the question you've got a 100% chance of not getting the answer you want! See where I'm going with this?

I'm in CT, and wish I'd read this thread before my D40 was just recently mutilated. PM me if you want to know who not to go to in CT. I wish I'd taken it to Paul Von Schmidt in Barkhamstead which is very close to New Hartford where the Guild facility is located. Paul did some very nice work on my Taylor 12 string. His number is 860 379 4159.

By the way, when is the factory tour happening?

Yep. Here's some good advice from a Canadian you might know... Steffan

Dropped the guitar off at Hot Strings today. Jamie said it would be done within 2 weeks.

He has a nice little shop and was actually complimentary on the project. Can't wait to get it back all shiny and finished and put it back together. It really sounded terrific when I strung it up for a few days to test it out. I love the feel of soft V neck. I compared it against the original today and it's a full 1/8" wider at the nut. It's wide but very easy to play. I have big hands so the extra string spacing is quite comfy.

If I can somehow do a sound clip I'll try to post it here.

Two weeks! It's killing me already!
