Seems like the T50 has never been a model made in large numbers, probably because as you’re saying it’s an instrument that’s not for everyone. From a my point of view I think they have an appeal to a singer-songwriter as a good rhythm instrument for fronting a band or even solo performance, it has a nice visual “pop” but also elegant and simple. Slim profile is comfortable and good for travel, and one pickup can be good for the “plug in and go” approach. That's exactly what I meant. A lot of people would want a second pickup and/or a cutaway, and the oldschool swing player who's into single coil hollowbodies would probably have preferred a deep body X50 version.
only if the Guild/Yamaha leadership is open to feedback and correction without getting offended.Guild should hire you as a publicist Ralf!
i.e. - they will be Ralfed.only if the Guild/Yamaha leadership is open to feedback and correction without getting offended.
My ‘60 T-100/SFI in cherry came stock with a black cover .Interesting that there is a black pickup cover on the black one. I was thinking Guild traditionally used white covers - like the cherry model ?
Not that it matters.
And what a pretty guitar it is! That's the one they should reissue! My ‘60 T-100/SFI in cherry came stock with a black cover

I wish someone made a good dearmond copy in modern times .
I have not come across one yet that sounds much different than , say, a P-90 or a Hilo tron .
And nowadays, real ones are like $500
