I've always been impressed with three-piece rock bands. Pick ONE power trio that stands out to you.
I've seen a few, but the power trio that stands out to me would have to be the original Gov't Mule.
Warren Haynes, Allen Woody, and Matt Abts

That's a great subject, Reeves.

When I look back at my favorite groups, it seems I can't come up with trios. My list of groups is almost entirely duos, or larger bands.

You probably mean Allen Woody, not Woody Allen. Seen those guys a bunch, with and without Woody. 30 years now!

Rik Emmett is such a monster player and singer!! I saw them in Baltimore in the early 80’s. Just incredible energy!
No doubt. I saw them open for Foghat in Memphis in 1983. I enjoyed Triumph more than Foghat.

An indicated 140mph in Alan Paxton's burnt orange Camaro Z28 down West Shore Road, listening to this, my favorite power trio.

Honorable mention goes to these guys. We just added this to our repertoire, and it's so much fun to play.

The power trio is the most elemental form of rock and roll, for sure.

One of my first concerts.

I ain't an actual trio in that the guitar player uses a loop station in the beginning before getting into the heavy stuff...
Nevertheless they are quite outstanding ! Didn't know this band - glad I've been listening to them, thanks. Quite impressive !
Cream, ZZTop, and Jimmy Hendrix (most of his stuff played live), were actual trios...

Excellent choices! I've seen that little ol' band from Texas a few times. ZZ Top is one of my favorite power trios.
I've seen ZZ Top a few times myself, but I've seen Hot Tuna/Jorma/Jack in their various forms by far more than any other band. 2024 marks fifty years from the first time at the old Academy of Music in the East Village!
