Thanks in part to the price increase thread, I pulled out the trusty D25 for a whirl this morning, serenading the squirrels and crows. Yes, people are asking crazy prices for these on reverb, and dang, what happened with the paint guy that did this burst?

And here is mine:

Shoutout to Dreadnut and hope Louise is still singing.🎶

I really like the proportions of the burst on that one. Very handsome instrument.

Thanks, they did ‘em nice in the late 70’s early 80’s. Except that reverb ad, yikes! Done right like mine, I especially like how the pickguard gets swallowed up by the black 😍

Um ... er ... it's not a Guild. For the last few days I've been playing my Collings OM2 (not OM2H--it's unusual that way), short-scale with an Engelmann top. It's silly to say it doesn't sound like a Guild, because all my Guilds sound different from each other. But it sounds great, and the short scale is very comfortable to play. I was initially worried about the compound neck, but I actually find it very comfortable. The only difficulty is that my Dunlop capo won't work on the 9th fret for Lyle Lovett's "If I Had a Boat." Lyle plays a Collings--I wonder what capo he uses.

Back to Guilds tomorrow.

Lyle probably is using a PaigePro capo, very expensive but they do custom radius and widths.

I thought you all might enjoy seeing my self built 1993 D28 style dreadnought. Locally harvested Adirondack Spruce, Brazilian Rosewood back and sides. Waverly tuners, Mamoth Ivory nut and saddle. The neck was one acquired from the martin custom shop. Bracing was a close replication of a 34 d28 Dave had removed uears ago. This was my first boutique build i made under the guidance of master luthier and pearl inlay artist, Dave Nichols of custom pearl inlay in Whippleville NY. Dave is know as one of the inlay artists to the stars. His client list includes, Johny Cash, ZZ Top, Del McCoury, David Grisman, Aerosmith and Merle Haggard. BB King, George Jones. Eric Clapton and many more.
Of course the inlay work was done by Dave.
The 69 D50 i posted about is its near equal in quality of tone but not so close in power.
Sorry for the poor pictures!

Today I played my Oxnard F40 Traditional during my vocal therapy session. I still haven't quite bonded with this guitar--it's good, but doesn't do anything that really grabs me. It is, however, a great size for forcing me to sit upright while I'm playing and singing. With smaller guitars I have a tendency to hunch over the guitar. Can't do that here, so it's helpful.

Jeff, have you tried a string change?

This morning I was feeling the Force, and that naturally made me break out the F30rce. If I had to choose because I could have only one acoustic guitar out of my collection, this just might win out for best overall guitar. Really has great specs, upper fret access, is comfortable on the whole picking arm from shoulder to wrist to hand and fingers, my goodness, why don’t they offer this in a USA made model for sale anymore? baffling.

Got out my Chris Bozung 2001 Herringbone dreadnaught in antique burst. Sitka top and rosewood back and sides. I named it "a dozen roses."

Fairly new member here, so will tell what I am playing today with a little background...1970/71 Gibson Dove...My wife inherited it about 23 years ago after her father passed away...He bought it new around 70/71. While I have played on and off for 30 years, I never played this guitar much, and it spent a lot of time in its case (shame on me)..I have been playing more the last few years, and took this out of its case to display after I finished my basement, but still did not play it much...I finally took it to my luthier for a proper setup and that seems to have made the difference...Plays a lot easier and sounds great...Maple with spruce top...Here are a couple photos...Side note: I was turned on to Guilds after buying a 1970 F112 from Richard P (that seems to be a common thread with this group), and am now looking to get more (another common thread). Will show the Guilds under a separate post, but the one next to the dove is a 1975 G212.

Cheers, DaveIMG_9926.jpgIMG_9928.jpg

Today I played my stepmother's 1970 Martin D18, which she gave me after a fall from a horse and then arthritis made it too hard for her right shoulder to manage. It's a nice guitar, and a testament to Martin that they did so much repair work under warranty before she gave it to me. But tomorrow I'll be back to a Guild.
