It's a game Don and I play... one song... two artists. Who did it better??

Song is "Outbound Plane"

And then by the original writer...

JUST SO YOU KNOW THE RULES.... the SAME SONG by DIFFERENT PEOPLE... OKAY??

Lemme have it and who did it best?? I know my fave... but what's yours??

Tough call, Tom. So very similar. I like the first one better because of the less-rushed tempo. But I like both.

It's harder when you love them all.

Oscar Brown Jr. who first put words to Miles' tune.

And Chet ... well ... Chet ....

And Julie Driscoll, model, singer, president of the Yardbirds Fan Club (at one point), one of my teenage boy heart-throbs (almost as cool as Emma Peel, but not quite)

or

Not even going with the sympathy vote here. Beck's version has been giving me goosebumps since the first time I saw him do it ...and the several times I've seen him do it since then. His playing just makes me giddy. :giggle:

When you Google “guitar tone” Jeff Beck’s name should be the very first thing that pops up. He is the master. It’s not about speed it’s about tone.

However as great as his version is I’ll take the Beatles on this one. Both are excellent however.

Ah, I like Elvis, but a square neck 12 string Dobro wins out every time!

The Everly Brothers, The Doors, Brewer & Shipley, Julie Driscoll, Brian Auger & The Trinity. On Jailhouse Rock I'm torn. Not a favorite song, Elvis is classic (I'm so not an Elvis fan) and the Dean Carter version is wildly different. I'd call a tie on that one.

Wow, Route 66 is a tough one. Nat has that smooth style and voice that I love. But CB has an energy that's hard to deny. I'm gonna call a tie on this one. Different. Neither better than the other. I'm not usually undecided on stuff..
