There were no updates as of Tuesday night.
Today shows it came and went from Bloomington, CA late last night. Fed Ex don't work no weekends so, I have an estimated delivery date of Monday.

Again sorry for the delay, I hope you understand I have no control of any of that.

Of course I do. It's been between me and FedEx ever since you dropped it off.
I never expected it to get here before Monday anyway.

Tom was right but, the waiting is over.
The old girl showed up today. Happy to say, no real surprises inside the box.
This one has been around the block a couple of times but things could be way worse. Thanks Dave, very happy with the purchase.
Gotta go eat something now, so I can start drinking, more to follow though.

Here's a teaser pic to tide you over.:friendly_wink:

OK, I'm Back.
Here's my initial impression. This 100 started life in Black. You can see residual paint in the tuner peg holes and cavities and I believe Guild used single piece, or at least better matched, wood for the
bodies transparent finished units. I can't tell for sure yet as the control cavity cover may be the original but no longer has the label or copper insulation.

The last owner (before DRC of course) wanted a natural finish on it. The black was stripped (or possibly belt sanded like it is now) and a clear was applied (not sure what kind yet.)
Either the color was not what he was looking for or the job was done badly (there are some visible runs on the back of the headstock) so, before reassembly, the belt sander came out again.
For whatever reason the re-re-finish was not completed and the project was shelved (wonder how long it sat in the case like this.) I think it was at this point that the missing hardware and parts were lost.

The wood is not too chewed up and only 2 screws were sanded over (plus the nailheads of course.) On first inspection I thought all the screws were sanded over but I found the holes were just filled with clear (that's how I know it was not reassembled before re-sanding.)

Unfortunately, the fretboard was also clear coated....

The frets have wear spots all the way down to the 15th fret but, not badly (I've seen way worse on guitars half this old.)

The back of the neck came out pretty good actually. The serial number looks like an ink stamp because there are no indentations (unless it was filled and smoothed over.) At any rate, the serial number would be lost under another coat of color.

You can see in this picture that it was put back in the case before the clear was completely cured.

Unless the design changed in '72 or '73, I can't see how you would ever have to re-set these necks.

Drilled for dot makers but the dots are long gone.

Here's one for everyone who allways wondered what was under those HB-1 pickups but were smart enough not to look.

......and the backs

Here is the only major problem I see with this restore. If you look closely, you can see the only wire coming out of the neck pickup (in between the coils you can the end of a wire poking out.)
The other coil wire is nowhere to be seen and the pickup with have to be taken apart to see if it can be found and fixed.

On to the only other hardware included:

The harness is messy, broken off and twisted but all there except for one nut and washer set. All pot numbers seem to be correct.

Bridge a little rusty but complete and in working order

No screws survived, machine heads gone (think I'll just get a new set of Grover Vintage 97's), pick guard and control knobs probably on someone else's guitar or in a land fill.
All in all, a respectable guitar and a great project.

More pics upon request, all questions and opinions welcome...........nighty night.

With help from some LTGer's, in the Tech section, I was able to strip all of the clear coat off of the fretboard without damage to the inlays.

Also did a quick sand and buff to the headstock......

A huge improvement on both fronts.

Make sure you neutralize the stripper before your oil. (Just like getting all the glitter off.)

Took apart the neck PU tonight. All the lead wires are gone but one. This thing has bee seriously molested.
Thinking it's way beyond my capabilities. Who should I send this to for a salvage repair?
