Charlie, Why did you go fat tire?

I am unable to ride my (regular) mtn bike on trails in winter around here, Marc. Also, there's so much sand on the roads here during winter that I'm disinclined to use the mtn bike (or a road bike) at all. The fat bike will enable me to do everything. I am not a stationary bike rider. However, when I tried a fat bike (non assisted) years ago it was a fool's errand. I'm a fairly strong guy, but you have to be kind of a superman to go anywhere without assist.

If you are not pedaling up the mountain, is it still even a bicycle?
Well, perhaps if it makes the sound of one hand clapping, or if it falls in the forest... :)

Seriously, though, as a former, "serious" mountain biker, the whole point is to pedal up the mountain. So, I guess the purist answer is "no."

Not that often we have snow on the ground 'round here in Westchester county NY. But the last time I hit my locat trails on xc skis I found that the fat tire bikes packed down a really nice track for me to glide on.

Back in the day I used to drive a minivan and I kept both skiing and biking stuff in the thing all winter. I would make a decision based on conditions at the trailhead which to use that day, bike or skis.

Fättie (that's her name) is in Pennsylvania and I'm going to' guess the Tuesday arrival is accurate. Weather's supposed to be good all week and I expect to be trying out the trails on Wednesday!

:D :D It was "fun" having my son help me shlep that 100 pound box into my living room.

I was working on getting a date with the FedEx driver yesterday by helping her, but she wasn't having any of it. She was just annoyed. :)

You asked the FedEx driver to go out on a date? Smooth operator!

Sadly, bike is still in the box. Dealing with some difficult personal stuff right now and might not get to assembling it for a while.

But, still very excited and "oh no, I didn't!" back to you GG. :D

I've found that "assembly" can go one of two ways. Either everything goes right and it's straightforward and it's very therapeutic. OR it goes horribly wrong and super frustrating and just exacerbates your issues and next thing you know you're on a involuntary 72-hour hold at a mental facility. So yeah.... maybe wait.:oops::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Gotta catch up on Futurama first!
Yeah. For sure. The Hulu season isn't great, but it's mostly watchable. The old stuff is some of the most fun sci-fi ever!!!

FYI in case anyone is interested, Juiced just jacked up the prices by $550 on the fat e-bike. They're now offering a valentine two-fer where you pretty much get my price, buy you have to buy two. :) Anyway, FYI:
