I am seeking someone that can tell me about my Guild X79 guitars. I have one that has a very low serial number, is in pristine condition, built in 1981, I believe

The Chinese are now making counterfeit copies of the X-79. What will they copy next? For $260, I just might buy one. I certainly don't want to spend $1500+ on a real one.

Yes! They changed slightly during the last couple years of production. Mine is from 1985 - the last year they were made.

Black Flathead screws. You can just make out the white layer circles exposed form the screw countersink.

Feel free to post some pix of your X-79s. We love photos! I have a very clean one, but I don't play it much because it's so pointy that I'm afraid of banging into something with it.

I think I got the modification with a thicker body and strato-shaped cutouts for the arm and belly like yours. I ended up with the JJ French version (far left). Has anyone else come across such modifications? Didn't find much information about it.
