Milo, please forgive our many digressions into the world of Kurt Vonnegut.
Yes...sorry...I just happened to be reading Cat's Cradle when this thread started. My roommate came across a Vonnegut quote in a book he was reading and asked me what the quote was from. I wasn't sure and had to look it up, and that sent me off on another Vonnegut binge, which happens every few years. Knocked off Cat's Cradle, The Sirens of Titan, and God Bless You Mr. Rosewater this weekend. Now I'm reading Deadeye Dick. It won't end until I've gone through most of them for the umpteenth time.
As for veers, you never know where they'll lead:
"Peculiar travel suggestions are dancing lessons from God."
...and I was some of the mud that got to sit up and look around. Lucky me, lucky mud.
BTW, the book my roommate was reading was
The Unlikely Disciple by Kevin Roose about his semester at Liberty University. I recommend it.
(I also reread Catch-22 last week. Don't get me started on that one!)
And if I keep going on this topic maybe we should revisit
this thread.
