I've been lurking for a while and thought I should introduce myself to the old-timers. I'm quite new to playing, however I got bit by the bug rather hard. After a bad experience with three years of piano lessons as a teenager, I lost any interest in playing music until my 30s. Now having regretted not keeping with it, I'm finding guitar better suited to me and has refueled my interest.
My first guitar was a Morgan Monroe M-KOA E1, which I bought to give me something decent to start out on that wouldn't be a detriment to my learning, but not so expensive so that if I didn't stay with it, I wouldn't be out too much. It is a nice guitar for the cost, but being a perfectionist with expensive tastes is a double edged sword and I quickly realized I was never going to be content until I had a top of the line guitar. I pursued Gibsons, Martins, Taylors, Breedloves, but settled on Guild, a brand new 2007 Tacoma built, Iced Tea finished F-47M with D-TAR electronics to be specific. It was love at first sight and first chord. I had no choice in the matter, I had to have it. There was no point to even try to resist. I have been doing mostly fingerstyle so far and this type of body seems well suited for that. Describing sound is pretty difficult, however it is sweet, warm, bold, powerful, delicate, complex, upfront all mixed together....if that is possible. This guitar has cured my GAS problem, big time! This guitar is far better than I am, but so enjoyable every time I picked it up to practice. So, let me stop talking, and get to the good part.....
