The case is the brown people finish Guild TKL case with green interior. Not sure what guitar in which it was originally used. i bought one a year or so ago for a 1979 F30 and liked the quality. The specs the seller listed for it was 15.75” lower bought so I figured I would give it a try as I don’t have my F30 here to test the case. As you can tell from the photos, it fits well. Here is the link to the one I purchased (same seller I bought the first one for my F30):

What's weird is that I bought that same case from that same seller, and it was too small for my OM. I wonder if yours has a slightly smaller body?

Guild may not have used blue rosette on their production models of their Orpheums but Fender did on the Master Designed 12 String from their custom shop in New Hartford. Is there a signature under the hood? My Fender has Jason's.
Jason's signature is under all the Orpheums I've had or that passed through here, was uner the Fender TPD-1 that I had briefly, and is also under the top of my resonator. My luthier showed me that when he had the cone off.

I measured mine at 15 5/8” at the lower bought compared to the specs of 15 3/4”. However, 1/8” extra would still fit in my case. The rest of the measurements matches the specs on the Guild website. That is strange. It definitely does not have any room around it but it does not feel too tight (at least to me).

Look at that! Totally neat, James. I don't think I ever saw those guitars. Did we ever discuss them here? Do you have more pictures?

I see one of those on reverb (not a 12-string):

I wonder if these were lurking, unnoticed, when we toured at LMG IV. I do recall seeing Fender Custom Shop acoustics, but I didn't give them much attention, as there were too many Guilds around.

I had some time today and was able to remove the strings, polish the frets, oil the fretboard and bridge, clean it up, and put on some fresh strings. The action was good but ideally I would want it a tiny bit lower. However, it was playing good and I didn’t want to lower the saddle until I spent a lot more time with it and felt it was necessary. I removed the saddle while I was cleaning it and noticed something in the saddle slot of the bridge. There were two really thin cardboard shims under the saddle. Those can’t help the sound transmission! I removed them and strung it up. The action is now exactly where I like it with plenty of saddle still left. That was a good reminder to myself of why I take off the strings, clean and inspect everything on every used guitar I purchase.

It sounded good before but now it sounds great. Much louder and when you pluck a note is just keeps ringing and ringing. I can’t wait until the strings settle in a little to see how it sounds!

I wonder why someone would do that, Brad. But, hey, that's great! Now it's perfect! :)

I spent very little time in the shop during LMG IV, so you might be right! I was at Ski Sundown most of the day helping set everything up with the NH gang. I missed out on seeing the latest stuff at the shop, but had a lot of fun putting out guitars and helping with the stage. Especially, I got to spend time with Charlie (WorkedInWesterly) who'd been brought on in the custom shop for a while. (RIP, Charlie!)

Quick question regarding the neck constructions of the production Orpheums. The Guild website list the necks as two piece mahogany. Are they truly two pieces or the typical Guild three piece neck with a thin strip of some other wood down the center? It’s hard to tell from looking at online photos. Thanks

Both my 12 and 14 fret Orpheums had the shims under the saddle and took them to Chris Bozung and had him remove them on both guitars. For me, much better sounding and playing now.

My jumbo has three piece neck with rosewood centre strip. All models have some little unique detail.

Mine measures 15 3/4", and it was definitely too big to fit that case, ir any other OM case Ive tried. It fits perfectly in a Hiscox (16") dreadnought case though, and that will be it's new home on the rare occasions that it leaves the house. It fits so well that you can grab the guitar by the neck while it's in the case, and the whole case will come with it when you pick it up. Same fro dreadnoughts too. I'm a total Hiscox convert, after never liking any knd of thermoplastic case.

The F47R I got when they were closing the NH factory has two very thin Masonite (or the like) shims under the
saddle; I just assumed they had them there in case an under-saddle p/u was ordered. I got two full size blanks
from Kim a short while later but have never removed the shims and replaced the saddle.

Oh, I like Bill's thought that they stood in for UST transducers, if ordered. But, having said that, were *any* Orpheums sold with electronics? I don't think so.
I'm pretty sure they weren't. This all gives me reason to have my rosewood slope-shoulder prototype checked out--it's always sounded just a bit muffled compared to my mahogany production model (which has had a Baggs Lyric installed, though I don't know for sure if the saddle was ever checked out).

Mine had a definite line of discolor but I watched Chris sand each one and I requested both saddles be taken down to where color changed and from the smell, I thought solid bone saddle but couldn't figure out the shim look. A logical answer is what I am hoping for. Time to play 14 fret I got from Richard P, before bed.

Nice looking case! I have not tried one of those before. I wonder if we have slightly different Guild cases that look the same? I can’t find any numbers or markings in mine and it did not have a tag when I purchased it. I was curious so I just measured mine. It measures (without compressing the interior padding) at 15 3/4”, 10 1/4”, and 12 1/8”. I would love to get your Orpheum OM and mine together sometime to compare side by side to see any differences.

We might be able to arrange that!
